  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have noticed a strong odor of fuel when I drive my vehicle for an extended amount of time, for example 2-3 hours of running around town. I live in Vegas, temps are 100 degrees. When I come home and park it in the garage, in a minute or two there is this strong smell of fuel, like fuel is on the ground or leaking. There are no leaks.

When driving the car and doing errands that last 10-15, 20 minutes, the smell is never there, only on prolonged driving with stops and starts.

Anybody experience this yet? Thanks

Make sure you do not overfill your tank. If problem persists, contact your dealer, since it is not normal.

Tank has not been overfilled, usually it's about 1/2 to 3/4 tank when I have noticed this. I'll just have to see if this is a pattern and see what the dealer says.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have had my Genesis for a year with no issues, but the past few days there is an odor of fuel in the interior if the car is idling for a few minutes. I also noticed that it smelled like fuel in my garage - but there is no leak beneath the vehicle.

I definitely did not overfill the last time I put gas in..

I had a very strong fuel smell in the car when driving it last week - smelled like someone dumped gas in the back seat. I have not noticed it since, so I am hoping it was just fuel on the road or another vehicle. However, the smell seemed too strong to be on the road or another vehicle. Hoping I never notice it again.
