  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2025
Genesis Model Type
Genesis GV70
I received an email from my dealer today that the G70 2025s are out already and in their lots already. That seems very quick compared to when the 24s came out not much of gap there between the two. I don’t see much of a difference other than a new matte blue exterior color and finally wireless car play and of course another $500 more for the car. If anybody sees other changes please let me know. The Genesis website shows both the 24s and the 25s to build.

Seems odd to me too. Wonder why.

There was a report that Genesis was going all electric with the 2025s. Of course, that's not happening. Could Genesis be planning on. all-electric for the 2026 lineup? And could the early release of the 2025 G70 signal maybe Genesis wants extra time before launching the 2026 EV lineup? Just wondering out loud.

The 2026 GV70 is already out in Korea and it’s not electric. I really like the new instrument cluster and center screen combined into one long screen. There will also be a sports version. The sports version has the flat bottom steering wheel.

If Genesis is smart from everything I’ve been reading lately they will keep gasoline (ICE) engines for a few more years or at most go hybrid. Going all electric I think will be a mistake until the charging infrastructure is completely set up in this country. I myself am not interested in an all electric car at this moment or the foreseeable future. Having a good mix of cars ICE, hybrid, and electric is the best solution for now and would help with government mandates for overall gas mileage.

IIRC, Genesis' announcement back in 2021 was something like... all new model after 2025 will be electric. Didn't explain whether that means existing ICE models like G70 will still get updates and refreshes, but certainly ICE vehicles would continue to be sold after 2025.

They also said they plan to be zero emissions by 2030. That is even more vague. No detail explanation either.

That was 2021, back when lots of legacy auto mfrs were still drunk on Elon Musk's EV coolaid. Now in mid 2024, pretty much all of them have sobered up to the reality that EV sales have stagnated and most car buyers are simply not ready to go EV any time soon. The hangover, and huge loses some automakers (Ford, GM, etc.) have sustained on EVs, have caused many of them to back-paddle on their hifalutin EV plans. Genesis hasn't released any official word yet, but I highly doubt they are still sticking to their electric ray guns.

Exactly! The latest push by manufacturers is hybrids. Most EV plants have been cut back because demand has not met their expectations. Does not surprise me a bit. There are WAY too many people that would have a hard time adding charging equipment at home, who park in streets etc, and/or just not seeing the need to convert.

Everybody I know that has EVs also still have a gas powered vehicle and use them for longer drives. What if you are single and don't want to own two vehicles. What about all the farmers etc who live in remote areas and could not even drive round trip to the nearest town? Sure, it might be doable but why deal with the hassles.

True then but not now.
Hyundai Motor is likely to delay the transformation of Genesis to a pure electric car brand. The carmaker previously said that from 2025, all new models would be purely electric and that the last combustion engine would be sold by 2030 at the latest. Instead, it will now focus on full hybrids.
As The Korea Economic Daily reported, citing industry insiders, Genesis is changing its EV roadmap. Instead of purely electric models, the brand wants to launch full hybrids in 2025. That way, the carmaker wants to “attract drivers hesitant to switch to all-electric vehicles,” according to the report. “

Man, that tacked on screen, a la BMW, looks like crap IMO. Just plain cheap. But if others are doing it and saving money, then let's follow their lead. That car has ZERO sport, and bet it'll be even less sport than the current one. But we'll see, I guess.
