G70 Drive Experience - Vancouver July 27

just curious who else in the Vancity area will be attending this "G70 Drive Experience" on Friday? i can only hope that they'll have a RWD 6MT model available, but my guess is the AWD 8AT versions of the 2.0 & 3.3 trims.

it would be cool if they let me time trial my Infiniti G37S against the G70...we'll see.

All attendees will enjoy a two-hour program full of driving instruction, food and refreshments, and Genesis driving exhilaration. Drive on the autocross-style track in one of our cars and experience a hot lap as the passenger of the PLBAutosport ProDrivers - the team of Phillipe Létourneau, High Performance Expert from Canada’s Worst Driver.

Experience will include:

- Driving Experience 1 - Autocross self-driving style

Based on the email, you sit as passenger doing the track while you are the driver doing the autocross. That's my understanding.

^ yes and no. first you get instruction in class. then you get autocross track time on your own. and then you get to ride along with a "ProDriver" on the autocross track to make your lap time appear silly. there's only one track - the autocross. afterwards are Genesis swag and food/drink.

Sounds like fun. I recently went to an event like this with Jaguar and Land Rover and it was a blast.

I hope they do something like this in Edmonton and I hope current owners are invited...

I have signed up for this, however It is looking like I will be unable to go. Did something similar with Alfa Romeo, but we got to take their competition around a track with the Guila to compare, It was fun. Hoping I can make it.

You guys will love it. I Autocrossed the 2.0T in Mont-Tremblant and it was phenomenally balanced and really fun to drive around a tight circuit. I could only imagine the shenanigans that would occur if you drove a 3.3T around the same track.

It was fun, we get to drive 3 laps around the laps setup by cones. Really amazed at how planted the car was taking hard corners. Not something I would have found out in my normal day commute. They also have racing drivers doing hot laps with us while we sit in the passengers. There were smokes and drifts

Nothing much in the swag bags, a bit disappointed. There is a pen, a couple of nicely printed catalogs, and a stainless steel water bottle with Genesis logo on it.

I feel like a dork running around with my Genesis bottle, Genesis pen, in my Genesis car... I mean, I'm still doing it but still feel like a dork. =D

And yeah, the event was great. Really good to know what the car can do, even if I won't ever be doing it.

fun event. the afternoon was smoking hot and my group was the last of the day, but i was impressed with how the Brembos held up with little to no fade. the tires were getting a bit greasy by the last of the Hot Laps, but that made for some lurid drift scenes. one of the Pros (forget the name) is a drift circuit guy - he was driving the blue G70. wicked fun.

the back seat wasn't as bad as i recall from the car show. i sat back there a couple times, and while it was tight, it was not unbearable and i would not have an issue with a friend or two back there for a shorter trip. the middle seat is a write off.

i joked that i pity the fool who buys one of these 'demo' cars after the thrashing we gave them. aside from changing tires, all these cars will be sold. good thing i'm looking at the 6MT version - only the 3.3T Sports were on hand!

the red is sweet, if you're into that sort of thing. i am almost sold on the Mallorca which looked great, but they had a darker blue as well - unfortunately it was inside a tent so tough to tell how it would look outside. they had a couple green ones, that looks grey until you really look closely. my bro-in-law preferred the white which was sharp looking as well.

the seats were good on a hot day. still choked these are not even optional on the 6MT trim...
