  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

I have a Genesis G70 AWD 2.0T 2019. For the past two months, I've been dealing with my car running too rich (P0172). I spent around $400 and have had the following work done:

  • Car fuel trim reset (Engine fuel table was off so needed a reset)
  • Changed car engine filter (First step as per P0172)
  • Change 02 Sensor (Mechanic said mine was acting faulty - changed it twice).
  • Checked MAP sensor (Said it was fine)
Despite doing all those things, the CEL would return 4-7 days after.

I took my car to the Genesis dealership for the High Pressure Fuel Pump recall (From Sept 2024) which results in a car running rich. I took it to the Genesis Dealership to get it fixed. Three days later (Friday), the CEL is back. From what they told me, they updated the ECM for the high pressure fuel pump.

The car is running ok - no real issues on driving. Very slight trembling on starting and a bit sluggish on acceleration. Sometimes, it smells when the AC is off.

I'm not sure on what to do - I'm lost on what could be causing it. I'm going to call my mechanic again. But I also not sure what the Genesis Dealership could do but the high pressure fuel pump is known to cause the rich code (P0172).

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

If it's still under warranty (?) and you're still getting a code, why not take it back to the dealer?

Unfortunately it's a 2019 - so the 5 yr timeline (or 100,000km) means I'm not eligible.
