  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70
2019 Genesis G70 3.3T Dynamic at Lightning Lap 2019

Short take: they liked it, and it did a lot better than the Stinger they tested last year:

Lap Time: 3:07.3
Class: LL2 | Base: $51,245 | As-Tested: $51,245
Power and Weight: 365 hp • 3817 lb • 10.5 lb/hp
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4, F: 225/40ZR-19 (93Y) R: 255/35ZR-19 (96Y)

As we barrel down the front straight at 136.9 mph in the Genesis G70, the thought of what happened last year to its close relative, the Kia Stinger GT, pops into our heads. On that car's first hot lap, the brakes faded just as we approached Turn 1, sending us flying off track. So this time, as we step into the brakes on the G70, we say a prayer to the track gods: "Please work. Please work."

Foot down. Pedal feels solid. The car sheds 92.7 mph like it's nothing. Easy. Apparently, luxury-brand Genesis fits its sports sedan with track-worthy pads as standard equipment (the Kia required accessory pads to safely record a fast lap). In fact, the G70's stoppers seem to enjoy the abuse. If you ever doubted the importance of good brakes, take a look at the over-one-second advantage the G70 holds over the Stinger after the first corner. The majority of the 4.3-second difference between these cousins' lap times occurs in VIR's brutal braking zones.

This G70 lives up to the Dynamic part of its name. There is sublime balance and ease to the chassis as the Genesis gracefully dances through the infield's corners. The steering operates with diamond-cutting precision. A large braking event over the curbing can be a cringe-worthy moment, but the G70's adaptive dampers help shrug it off. Manually shift the eight-speed slushbox for the best results. Left to think on its own, the automatic fumbles around and can find itself in too high a gear and then suddenly downshift out of a turn and unleash an explosion of torque, leaving more rubber and smoke at corner exit than Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Ventilated and amply bolstered, the quilted seats keep you cool and in place during the 3:07.3 workout. Luxury rarely has a place on a racetrack, but the Genesis G70 seems to fit in just fine at VIR.
