  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A few weeks ago I went to work and noticed there was no sound coming from the radio - like zero. I tried Android Auto and got the same result. If I recall correctly, the only way I could get any sound out of the speakers was to use the voice button on the steering wheel.

Today, the problem was that there was only sound coming from the center front speaker. I tried several radio channels and was also playing music through Android Auto. I tried adjusting the front to rear and side to side balance and the only sound I could get was from the front center. Once I got home I shut the car off for a few minutes, came back and the sound was again coming through all speakers.

Anyone had the same issue on the G70? Is there a common cause?

When it happened were there any other audio priorities intervening, e.g. rear camera, front camera, navigation, etc.?

Don't think so. We were cruising on the highway. Android Auto was on with maps on screen...

I have my screen blank out and no sound before when Car Play is trying to hand-shake between phone and head unit. Happens occasionally. Normally disconnecting the phone and or turning head unit on and off corrects the problem. I have yet to update maps and such even though I had map n soft send me a new SD card. Not sure I want to risk a head unit issue, a voice navigation issue/speech recognition issue or any changes just to update the map. I don’t use navigation all that often anyway and what I have on my 2020 works just fine for what all I use. Too bad they can’t just monkey with maps and nothing else. Sort of like Apple can’t just make simple IOS changes. They have to monkey with how long my battery last and the whole look and feel of the phone and Apps at times. Got to love programmers.

Ive had no audio before, probably 4 times in the 2 years Ive had the car. All fixed by restarting the car. Ive noticed that for at least 2 of the times it happened when I left my phone plugged in while on CarPlay, turned off the car, and then got back in the car and turned it back on. But I should also add that Ive done the same thing where it did not result in no audio, so its not like its repeatable from my experiences

Yeah, seems to be some sort of software sync problem... no biggie as long as it doesn't end up becoming something bigger!

I was advised when I had that issue and it worked was to shut car down and then hit start button once and wait a few minutes and then start the car.

Advised by the dealer?

I've had no sound 3 times over the past 2 years. Always works next time the car starts up after sitting a decent amount of time. No phone plugged in, only USB which is plugged in 24/7. Last time pulling over turning off, waiting and restarting did not fix it. But worked after sitting 4hr at the office.

I'm trying to hammer down the sequence of events (buttons, etc.) that causes this.... Annoying

Happened to me 4-5 times (‘19 G70 3.3) the past year where there was no sound either or the music was completely muffled and ridiculously loud when starting car. Turning off engine and restarting in a min or so fixed it. I haven’t had this issue however ever since updating to the latest nav/map software 2 months ago, but maybe just a coincidence? Considered complaining but hard to replicate for dealer and I’m just leasing so I let it slide.

I have had sound go out twice and only since the last update. I sit car down and restart no change. Shut car down pop the sd card, reinstall, all good.

I’ve had this happen once in 3 months of ownership, but like other people have said it went away after a shut down and restart. Running the latest software also.

Have a new issue that just popped up, all of my left side and center speakers are inop. Did a search for it and nobody seems to have posted about it before. Think the subs are still firing. Shut everything down and stated back up and it was still not working right. Figured I post to this semi-active thread. Gonna schedule a dealer visit, but anyone else have this kind of problem?

Have never had that happen. Keep us posted.

Try a battery disconnect for 10 minutes. I wonder if that will reset it.

Murphy’s law since I posted about it. Started up this morning and everything with the Lexicon is fine. Only thing I did last night that I rarely use was a remote start so I’ll try that once in a while and see if there’s a correlation.

I've had both issues once each, in the last 4 months. Latest software, no carplay, once with remote start (no sound) and once getting in and starting it up (no sound from one side). I don't know how the sound system is put together, but my old school brain feels like an amp isn't turning on or only firing up part way. I'll mention it at my next service just so they have a record of it in case it gets worse. So far, letting the car sit for a few hours seems to resolve the issue.

The sound will cut off and plays very softly out of front center speaker. It doesn't matter if I'm using siriusXM, radio, or carplay. After about 5 minutes, it switches back to full volume. I haven't confirmed any specific thing I'm doing when it occurs.
