  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Starting Issues with Good Battery

I have a 2021 G70 with the factory battery. I've load tested the battery and it meets the specifications.
The car refuses to start when it's colder than -15C, which really isn't that cold for a vehicle.
It doesn't even attempt to turn over, just turns on the dash, infotainment, etc. I'm assuming the ECU decides there's not enough battery power and doesn't attempt to start.
If I boost it, it might start, might not. I've had no luck boosting if it's colder than -20C, but it's 50/50 when it's warmer than that.

Is there any way to bypass the car deciding it doesn't want to try to start?
Does anyone have any ideas? I might replace the battery, but it seems odd that a 2 year old battery has gone bad.

Basic question but are you pushing the brake down far enough? It could be the switch isn't making contact because the cold?

Good point. My '23 G70 2.0T SP has a slight vacuum leak somewhere (first time it happens to me, but it's common), and that results in the brake pedal getting hard after 1+ days of non-use, either hot or cold. And yes, you need to depress the brake pedal harder than usual, in order to activate the brake switch, so the engine cranks/starts. It's easy to check if you pressed it deep enough by watching your brake lights. The good news is the switch activates with very little travel. Hope that's it for the OP.
