  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has any r-spec owner raced a g70? If so who won, I'm curious to know who would win that matchup

Unmodified? The G70 would win off the line, the R-Spec would take it on the highway.

Yeah I think the R-spec would hold onto the lead until it tops out at 150, I think the g70 top speed is around 167

I work at a Genesis Dealer. I own a 5.0 rspec and my GSM drives a G70 demo. We have raced on numerous occasions. The G70 is definitely faster off the line but midrange my r spec is a very formidable opponent. Passed 80 I alsways win but up to 80 he definitely has the advantage.

One key difference, and I know I've said it before, is in the quality of the engine sound. That 5.0 engine is super-smooth, and just importantly, just getting its legs, above 4000rpm. It's willing and feels like it wants to keep going, way past the "OMG-we're-sleeking-along-at-120-and-it's-egging-me-on-but-if-I go-any-faster-I'm-going-to-get thrown-in-jail-if-I-get-pulled-over-going-that-fast" point. I took my father-in-law and his buddy (both gearheads) out to dinner when I had my 2012 5.0 (I had a 2012 non-rspec 5.0 before I bought my 2015 V8, which I owned before my current G70), and I went to pass someone at speed on I-45 in Houston (which meant a quick climb up to triple digits, as 80 is the norm) and when I hit it, they were both pretty impressed at how fast it was at passing on the highway with three 200+ pound guys in the car. No drama, no fuss, just... "You want speed? Okay here ya' go."

The G70 on the other hand is begging for throttle pretty much from rest. The 5.0 is a gentleman, the 3.3TT, at least in G70 tune, is like a rock band rented the room above the garage in your house, and woke you up Saturday morning with sounds that annoyed you at first, but you very quickly started feeling the vibe.
