Nice. Will that pattern be available in different color combos? I'm thinking blue on yellow to stand out from other cars. They finally took off the fake cladding on the back. Looks sharp, like the Panamera shooting brake.

Why? I recall reading about how Mercedes took the pains to design the 300 rear without the lights in the lid. It makes it more expensive to repair in a minor ding, adds to the complexity of the wiring harness and makes them more susceptible to damage.I like how they integrated the tail lights into the trunk/hatch lid. Should have done that with the sedans.
US buyers only purchase crossovers and SUVs.Europe only, to no one's surprise.

2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake Will Be a Europe-Only Wagon
Genesis teased this good-looking wagon that won't be sold in the U.S., and it has the same updated design as the G70 sedan that'll soon be available here.www.caranddriver.com
in the US, tail lights have to be located in a fixed position, they cannot move or be primarily based within a moving part, like a trunk. So it's a real pain to do partial tails in the trunk because you run up against DOT regs as well. Why? Aside from style, there is no good reason to have them integrated into the trunk lid.
I'm surprised they didn't at least offer it in South Korea. Heck, there's enough of a market for BMW to sell this abomination over there.US buyers only purchase crossovers and SUVs.![]()
Simply aesthetics and brand style. The other new Genesis vehicles all have the tail lights expanding into the trunk. Why? That's not quite correct. There has to be a portion that's fixed, but not the entire light. That fixed portion has to include all the functioning elements of the taillight (brake light, turn signal, reverse light). There are several VW products that have clamshell trunks with the taillights fully on them, such as the Audi Q5/Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. To get around the fixed light requirement, they integrated essentially a second set of smaller taillights into the bumper so that people can drive around with the hatch open if needed.in the US, tail lights have to be located in a fixed position, they cannot move or be primarily based within a moving part, like a trunk.
