^ i too was longing for the beauty 10-spoke prestige wheels when I first got my Sport. I was pissed that Genesis Canada had done a bait and switch. The auto show Sport models and the website had the 10-spokers up until after the pre-order back in 2018. Then upon arrival they switched over to the 5-spoke dark Sport
rims. I’d never seen them before i viewed my car when it arrived.
It didn’t take long for the dark 5 spoke
rims to grow on me. Now, i would never switch. The 6MT Sport brake pads dust like crazy, and it would be a pain to clean the 10-spokers. The dust is pretty much camouflaged by the dark sport
rims. Also, the wide openings on the 5-spoke
rims allow easy acces to clean the calipers to keep them looking sharp.
As nice as the 10-spokers are, the dark Sport
rims get tons of attention. They are usually what people notice or comment on first...especially with those big red calipers so visible behind them.
Plus, the dark
rims align much better with the dark chrome trim. The prestige
rims and bright chrome trim work best together. The head Gen Canada rep told me this was the rationale to pair the dark Sport
rims with the dark chrome trim.
That said, every time i see a Prestige model with those sweet
rims I take a second look. Genesis did a great job with the upper-trim
wheel choices!
In my area, I see the base 18”
rim most often, followed closely by the Sport 5-spoker. The Prestige 10-spoker is a distant 3rd place. That trim does not sell well up here for some reason. I know the US 6MT also gets the 10 spoke
rim which is nice. In CAD the 6MT gets the dark 5 spoke
rim to match the full Sport appearance package.
