  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Not spraying the entire windshield. Seems only to spray only as far as wiper blades. Believe it or not have had car 2.5 years and this is first time I used the function. I assume not normal.

No reason to spray outside the wiper area. The blade wipes away the dirt. Don't recall any car that sprayed the entire windshield. Waste of fluid. One car I had the sprayers were right on the wiper arm.

Perhaps that is correct and it does seem that is what is happening but I surely have had other cars that washer sprayed further up the windshield.

OP - are you spraying the washer fluid while stopped? That might explain it. Once you are moving the wind velocity will carry the washer mist up higher on the windshield. This is an intentional design element to account for highway speeds. If the sprayers carried up to the upper windshield at rest imagine what would happen at 120 km/h, etc…

Makes sense and yes was stopped. Still seems right side is spraying less than left. May just be clogged a bit.

I can hear the pump going "eeeee" when I try to clean the windshield, but hardly any washer fluid is coming out. The reservoir is filled, and I use only brand-name washer fluid (undiluted). This is on a 2021 G70 -- any suggestions?

I think there are two main possibilities (and maybe several even less likely ones).

1. Some kind of sludge has grown in the bottom of the tank and it is blocking the inlet screen on the pump.

2. A hose has partially detached and most of the fluid is going on the ground. Do you see any leaking out?

I do not see any fluid on the garage floor -- I should have said that in my original post, sorry. I am bringing the car in for routine service next week, and I will ask them about this. But the dealership is so backed up that they will likely tell me that they will have to have the car for days to investigate the fluid system. Thanks.

How easy is it to access the inlet screen inside the washer fluid reservoir? If the car is lifted, can the screen be unscrewed from the bottom or does the whole reservoir have to be removed? TYIA.

I don't know about your specific model. Usually, the screen is at the end of the inlet on the pump, which usually is pushed through a grommet in the side of the tank. You may or may not have to remove the reservoir to be able to pull the pump off of it.

The mystery has been solved. It was the pump, even though you could hear it whirring when I tried to pump the washer fluid. And it was under warranty, so good news for me.
