If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thanks to Sal for being so proactive in procuring the OEM 80 badge(s). The package comes as G380 ... I suspect that is the Asian or European designation and all you have to do is pull the "3" off the film and you are set to go. Although smaller than the Genesis name on the left side, the "G" fonts match perfectly.

I like a more balanced look so took off the 3.8 badge on the right side and with a lot of measuring and use of a small level, I got the G80 to line up with the Genesis on the left side of the trunk... and the same distance from the side of the trunk. So they are equidistant from the side and at the same level from the bottom of the trunk. Not sure I explained that very well... but leave it to say they are in complete balance! The picture tells the story.

Well worth the effort and again... thanks to Sal for going to the trouble of getting the real deal!

The actual OEM G80 badge uses larger letters - what you have is based on the 2016 KDM G380 and not the 2017 G80.

Thank you for pointing that out. If that's the case then I owe him a new badge. Can you give me more information? I was under the assumption that there was no other G80 piece...

In any event, I like the look with "Genesis" at the left and "G80" at the right. But if there's a more proper badge, I want to get it to him...

I don't know where you can get it yet, but it is bigger (and different font) as you can see here:

You should be able to order any 2017 Genesis OEM part from a USA Hyundai dealer parts department, including the badges. But I would not be surprised if dealers have not received the 2017 Genesis parts catalog yet (online), or they may not have any in stock in the USA, but they will eventually be able to get them. Dealers buy the OEM parts from HMA, who gets them from Korea (since the Genesis is built in Korea).

I saw this picture as well... I think it came from the Paris Auto Show. Notice that the wing on the back is larger as well with the Genesis name easy to read. I also saw a picture of the G90's rear badge and the "G" was sitting a bit above the "90" .. not right next to each other. But again, that came from the Paris Auto Show where the cars were pre-production... and, most likely the European variants.

For right now, the G80 badge that Sal sent will be fine... I actually like the size and how it looks. But it would be nice to get the larger version at some point. I would also change out the wing as well. Not sure what they have done with the front wing. I can't imagine it being larger, but it might be brighter vs. the muted finish.

Yes, I figured that. My local dealership doesn't have them available for individual purchase just yet. In time...

Yes, the new badge is also slightly different from our second generation badges. However, only enthusiasts like us will notice the difference. They ARE available from a retailer on eBay but they're expensive. I was thinking about stocking up on them but they're just too expensive, in my opinion, at this point in time. They'll come down in price eventually...

Some dealers may balk at selling badges, even if they can. I would call around to various dealers and ask them if they have a 2017 G80 parts catalog and when they can order parts from HMA (without telling them about the badge).

I can say for sure my Hyundai dealer still has the 2016's in stock and they have the Genesis name on the back and the engine designation... some still have the "flying H" on the trunk. So, not sure when they are even getting the 2017's in stock.

And you are right, they don't seem very willing to sell anything cosmetic for the car. I asked them not long ago what happens if someone takes the wing logo off the back... they said that I would have to go out to the internet and get one. Really? But then again, one of the issues with the local Hyundai dealers around my area is that they seem rather lacking in the amount of interest they have in the Genesis line. Guess they are used to selling the Elantra and Sonata range as they are far easier to sell. I have been in the dealership numerous times over the past 9 months and continue to see the same Equus on the showroom floor for sale. I think Hyundai made a very smart move in splitting off Genesis and giving it the attention it deserves.

I did notice that no one has the 2017 G80 or G90 badges on the internet yet... only the wings.

I think you have a misunderstanding. The rear wings on the 2015 and 2016 are not Hyundai Genesis parts in the USA. The dealer cannot get them from HMA (Hyundai Motor America) since it is not an OEM part that HMA imports. Hyundai dealers in the USA gets all their OEM parts from HMA, who is the importer/distributor in the USA for the Genesis and for spare parts.

Hyundai dealers who install the rear wings on the 2015/2016 get them on the internet just like anyone else. The people who sell them on the internet get them from Korean Hyundai dealers where the rear wings are standard OEM parts installed on Korean version of Genesis. It has actually been this way since 2009, although the previous wings a little different. The Genesis sold in Korea has never had a flying H on it anywhere.

Regarding the 2017 Genesis Motor badges installed on USA versions, I don't believe you can get them from Korea since the "G80" is not used on the Korean version of the Genesis (it is the G380 or G500, I believe). Eventually, HMA will import the G80 badges to the USA, just like any part that is OEM on the USA version of the Genesis, and dealers can order them from HMA.

However, they probably can get the 2017 rear wings from Korea, since I believe they are the same as the USA version. But since they will soon be available at USA dealer parts departments, the internet importers may not bother to import them.

Keep in mind that people often buy a new car while waiting for their current car to be serviced. Given that, the standalone Genesis Motors showrooms could be very lonely places.

Just for general info . . . I was at my local Hyundai/Genesis dealership last week. They had one G80 on the showroom floor and it was the first one that I have seen up close and personal. I snapped a few iPhone images and walked back to the parts department as ask for a replacement set of wings for my new G80. She asked if I had the VIN number handy, which I did on the phone. It was in stock and only $55.00. What? Fifty-five American Dollars, are you sure? A quick recheck confirmed the rebadging is not going to be cheap.

I also asked if the 'filler' in the new wings design was going to be color coded to the exterior paints. She didn't know, said this was the only one she had ever seen. It appears they may have more options than white, but we will just have to see more G80s on the street to confirm this.

Ray

More on the wings . . My wife and I drove over to Montgomery, AL about 2 weeks ago for a tour of the HMMA plant that builds the Sonata, Elantra, and the Santa Fe. (almost 400,000 / yr)

Very impressive plant.

The visitor Parking lot has the first half dozen or so spaces reserved and I noticed four 2016 Genesis' parked there, I checked them out as I walked by and every one of them had 'wings' on the truck lid. The other two spaces each had an Equus.

They also have a showroom of sorts and the Equus has the front and center spot, as expected then at the head of the row of cars was the Genesis. I forgot to check to see if this one had wings on the back.

But, they did have boxes of the new printed brochures for the G80 and G90. I picked up a couple of each.

Ray

You might try one of the online parts websites run by Hyundai dealers, who normally sell OEM parts at a discount. But they may not have the parts catalog online yet for 2017, so you may have to call them.

Still hoping the new G80 badges (not the G90) might actually fit the holes in the rear of the 2015.

The odds are greatly in favor of the new wings not lining up the holes for the flying H in the 2015 Genesis. The 2016 holes did not align with the 2015/2016 wings.

This is not a problem because the stickem on the wings is so good - you just have to make an alignment template which can be a couple of pieces of removable painters tape. That is what I did.

Ray
