  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just wondering if one would be able to swap a jog wheel headunit from a newer g80 (w/car play) into a 2015 Ultimate? Would it be a "plug & play" operation that could be accomplished pretty easily? Assuming that you could find a working g80 part that didn't cost stupid $....

Yes I would like some resolution to this myself... it looks like everything is tied to mapnsoft that handles the map updates. I know I will not purchase a map update unless it has the android and CarPlay update... especially for what they charge.

It would “fit’. The real question is would it integrate with you car, The 2018 unit is different hardware and firmware than the 2015.

The 2015 Ultimate unit was built on a Windows CE platform. The 2018 is built on an Android platform.

Fitting isn’t the issue. Integration into the existing wiring harness and computer systems is.

True. Seems like the the the differences would all be internal to the unit itself. One would think the connectors & such would be the same since all the same hardware items that it controls (AC, satellite radio, etc.) are unchanged. I rather doubt those physical interfaces & components were altered wholesale just for the sake of what is basically "software" functionality...

From the looks of that, it only works on the Android based systems. The jog wheel/9.2 in system has a different OS.
