If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello,
I am new to this forum and look forward to chatting.

Last August I bought a new G80 Sport and I have several unresolved issues.

FIRST everytime it rains the Auto Emergency Braking warning pops up, the parking sensors go crazy, and the blind spot detection works on and off.

I have taken it in for for this issue multiple times and they ( reset the computer) however now I am running into another issue Valet Service.

The dealer from which i purchased the car emailed me and contacted me multiple times that they would come to my work or home for valet service.

Unfortunately, even though the dealer emailed me daily for a week beforehand they never once actually showed up on multiple occasions.

When I was able to actually get my car in to be looked the reset the sensors however dropped off the car looking like it was covered with white spray paint. (the entire car had to be wet sanded) and the trim was damaged.

Because of all these issues and the poor dealer, I decided to call the (4) other Genesis Hyundai dealers in my area. The ones across the bridge 15 miles away will not come to pick up the car for service " We only service cars in Pennsylvania" and the other ones locally do not have loaner cars and /or will provide the valet service.

While I like most of the features of the car I feel unsafe driving it in the rain and the main selling feature to me ( valet service) seems to be a cruel joke.

With two jobs, two kids, and a wife who does the same, I do not have the luxury to wait for service which is why I bought the Genesis with valet.

Does anyone have any advice for me. I did contact Genesis directly, who is elevating the issue.

*** I am coming from Range Rover, which believe me had it share of mechanical problems, however their valet /customer service was outstanding.

Well you already know the dealer sucks. Resetting is not the fix if they have done it multiple times with no fix. Only once in torrential rain did the AEB warning pop up and in over 40,000 miles in two Genesis maybe twice an intermittent blink of sensors in heavy rain.

Keep after Hyundai to either get your dealer straightened out or get them to have the PA dealer pay the toll and cross the bridge. I don't know what the terms are with the dealers but since they did not sell you the car they may not be interested.

Since it is multiple times, Lemon Law may be worth checking out too, at least make the threat. Good luck, please keep us posted and don't be afraid the mention the dealer name.

I actually have the same issue but not all the time, only when it is really raining hard out will the AEB show the malfunction. What I do find interesting is that my 2015 did the same thing as well as my 2016 but they had that rear taillight fix for possible water leaking in and they fixed that on my 2015 and it never had the issue again in the rain. I told the dealer that when I have taken the newer ones in but they just give me the deer in the headlight look.

  1. Please contact Hyundai USA, so when they cull the Genesis dealers (some of whom have been bitching about losing access to Genesis) episodes like this can be taken into account (and hopefully this obviously crappy dealer loses the privilege of selling the Genesis brand).
  2. Please publicize the name of the dealer so other people in your area will know what to expect and potentially choose alternatives
  3. The problem is water intrusion into the electronics. I have had this problem with my 2015 Hyundai Genesis in extreme rainfall (I'm talking, downfall so heavy it looked like my car was in a heavy shower). The whole system corrected itself and all was fine, but it did make me nervous. There was even a TSB for this for the Hyundai Genesis iteration of the DH sedan (DH being the development name of our cars back at the fort) where they replaced a part in the windshield cowl. I had the TSB done on mine, and have not seen the issue since, but my memory is failing me on whether or not I've been through as bad of a downpour as when it happened to me (it's only happened to me twice in the 2 years, 65K miles I've had the car, both times before the TSB). I would find it a little surprising that after a known problem that required a TSB to fix that a further evolution of the product wouldn't include those changes from the factory.

Take out your black genesis card or use the Genesis app and call (844) 340-9741) and tell them directly the issue and dealer issue. I have used this and received immediate call to resolve issue. Luckily never had this problem with any of mine. I’m on my fourth G80 Hope it helps.

The dealer who has not been very good has been Burns in Marlton NJ.

I called Genesis last Tuesday. They called the closest 4 Genesis dealers and not one was willing to come get the car, even though they were well within the one hour distance.

Genesis told me to take the car to a local Hyundai dealer for repair. Hyundai City. They loaned me a Sonata, ugh, better than nothing I guess.

While they have been friendly, just dropped the car off they only had one technician who went to Genesis school and he was not at work.

Driving a Sonata sucks, and I hope this issue gets resolved.

The latest from Genesis is that i need to wait for their Regional Team to contact me.

This whole experience is really frustrating and at this point I just want to be done with the car.

Burns Hyundai is where I bought the 2015 lemon and was the dealer that forgot to replace (or improperly replaced and they just fell off) 6 or 7 of the push fasteners on the underbody panels at the first oil change... and their solution to a rattling sunroof was to spray the hell out of it with some foul silicone spray that made the car stink for weeks. But they did tout their special Genesis Lounge waiting area for Genesis owners... lol

@NIKGEN "great"

I just hung up with Regional Customer Service from Genesis. While they have been friendly, it turns out even Genesis is not having any luck with getting a dealer to honor the valet service and is trying to find someone who will. Now it turns out the dealership they told me to take it to should not be working on it, because they are not trained, even though a lower grade customer service rep told me to take it to this dealer. Round and Round I go.

I took your advice and called the number. Genesis called all the dealers within 50 miles of me. None of them will pick up the car for service/maintenance.

Wow, sorry I don't have any real specific advice other than, be a squeaky wheel and stay on it with Genesis. I was swayed by the marketing regarding the valet and concierge service so it is reasonable as a customer to expect to receive some value from the actual service. Other's suggestions to look into lemon laws in your state seems like good advice. Hopefully you want need it but best to be well informed just in case.

I won't say a lot here about this aspect because I posted about it two other threads (I'm having strange sensor warning issues as well) but regarding your sensors, it seems they were reset but that did not resolve the issue. Any thought that replacing them might be warranted. Good luck. Hope you get a true resolution soon.

The issue here I see is these dealers make their money selling Hyundai's not Genesis and as well these dealers probably don't sell enough Genesis to want to go the extra mile. Hyundai can threaten to pull the Genesis piece but my bet is most of them won't care. It will be interesting to see if Genesis does force dealers to separate Hyundai from Genesis how many will actually do it. At least in the beginning if Hyundai does force dealerships to have a separate dealership/area for Genesis we may end up seeing only maybe 1 or 2 real Genesis dealers per state.

I'm lucky the one just down the road from me has made that commitment already, they already have a separate showroom for Genesis and even the parts people treat me different for being a Genesis owner. They offer concierge service as well.

I think you may be right. And yes, you are lucky. Just curious, in what area is your Genesis dealership located?

I'm in Southern NH. The dealer is Nashua Hyundai.

Genesis service quality is far below the quality of its cars. I had a problem with my door locks that was replicatable 100% of the time and was demonstrated to the service tech (every door other than the driver's door had to be unlocked manually, inside of the car, as in flipping the switch on each individual door). Despite this, they claimed to be unable to replicate the problem and returned the car to me at the end of the day with the problem fixed. When I told them that I did replicate the problem in front of the tech I just got a shrug. Now the problem is back, happens 100% of the time and I'll be back at the dealer next week.

Not sure if they were being dishonest (why would they be?) or what, but the whole experience was weird an unprofessional.

What did you do to replicated the problem? This isn't a case of not manually putting it in Park is it?
In any case, if you showed them the problem you deserve more than a shrug.

I pressed the "unlock" button on the keychain, the "unlock" button on the drive's side door, the "unlock" button on the passenger side door, and grabbed the handle of the passenger door, all right in front of the tech and invited him to do the same. My doors simply would not unlock and now they won't again. I almost never use Park and the problem happens 100% of the time--engine on, engine off, etc. If there is an issue with using Park, please let me know. Thanks!

With the electronic shift models, you can shut the engine off and exit. Whey you do, it puts the trans in Park. You exit the driver door but all the other doors remain locked. The unlock on the drivers door will unlock them though. If you shut down by shifting to Neutral and then push the P button, all doors unlock as you would expect. if the unlock button on the inside of the door does not work I don't see how they can say it is OK.

I haven't had any mechanical issues, but have had horrible experiences with Genesis customer service. I love my G80 sport AWD (2018) but absolutely would not recommend that anyone buy a Genesis until the company improves the quality of their service depts. My local dealer was closed, so I can no longer access my service records. My car also now has to go to a Hyundai dealer over 60 miles away - they have provided valet service, but the techs don't know how to service a Genesis (they sent my car back with low tire pressure - to make things worse the warning light was the valet drove my car back to me!) The worst part of my experience is the lack of responsiveness from what's supposed to be the 'Regional Customer Care rep - someone named Omar. Good luck to anyone who has to deal with him. I still don't know how I'm going to get my records or how to ensure that my car is being properly serviced.

So my 2018 Genesis G80 Sport has been making some very odd hissing/pressure release noises starting about three hours after it was last run, I have taken it to the dealer and they have told me they don’t have somebody that can sit in front of my car for three hours to verify this noise. So I went and put a nest camera under the car to see if I could catch the noise on camera. Not only did I catch the noise about 3 to 4 hours after last run of the vehicle but it also made the noise about eight hours later as well. I sent this video clip to the dealer, who has now emailed me and told me they have no idea what this noise is or why my car is making it. The dealer has now told me that they have forwarded the videos to corporate to see if they have any solutions. Does anyone here have the same issue? Or know what this could be? The noise seems to be coming from underneath my rear axle area of my car, not under the hood!

P.S. I tried to upload the video here, but this blog will not let me it says the extension is not allowed. I’ve tried multiple different extensions and converting the video it still does not let me attach it

Youtube links to my videos of this noise.
