Got off the phone with a Genesis dealer here in Alberta. They said the 2020 G80 model is possibly the same model as a 2019 just like Albertini's dealer said... with the redesign coming in 2021. Tho he wasn't exactly sure.

So maybe the dealers know something that we and all the auto bloggers don't?

Maybe we should all prepare ourselves for the redesign to still be over a year away.

Same message received in Ontario. However, there are added features to make the 2020 model different than 2019. I will update everyone once I have more details

Yup. The dealer I talked to said the same thing. Features will be added to the 2020 G80 model but it will look the same as a 2019. The car that we are seeing in the spy shots is a 2021 G80.

Not gonna lie. I'm really hoping the dealers are dead wrong on this as I was expecting the 2020 G80 to be the full redesign.

YEH who is good at getting this kind of info from Genesis and also reading tea leaves posted today that the redesigned G80 will be a 2021 model year vehicle. Given that, the ones on the seas now could be 2020 with few changes.

Will Next G80 be MY 2020 or MY 2021
Thanks for the link. I'll post in there about this.

My salesman just send me my G80 sport VIN. To confirm, I paid 60K for a 2019 G80 sport, Genesis Canada is sending me a 2020 model, red on black.
However, the car still floating on the sea slowly. Will update everyone once I have a picture of it!

I'm surprised the G80s float:). Is that a new feature for 2020? I am jealous and wish you the best with the new ride.

There were none between the 2018 and 2019, hopefully they did something for 2020.
Most likely the 2020 is identical to 2019 model as per my salesman with only added features

I have decode the VIN of my new 2020 G80 sport and found that it's the same engine as 2019 instead of the new 3.5T Lambda III engine which supposely equipe on the redesign G80.
Therefore, 2020 G80 will be the same exterior as 2019 model

What Lambda III 3.5T engine? I don't think they are making another V6 performance engine yet. The 3.3TT is quite new and the last V6 was the 3.8L Atkinson Cycle engine for their bigger Kia and Hyundai SUVs.

I don't know how reliable they are but a number of different car sites have reported/speculated that the 3.3t will be replaced with the 3.5T Lambda III. Here is the Korean car blog.

2020 Genesis G80 to Improve Design, Powertrain & Weight - Korean Car Blog
They are the only ones talking about it so I doubt it is true. Can't see the Asian automakers going bigger. The 2.5t may be a possibility for an intermediate engine between the 2.0t and the 3.3tt.
They already discontinued a 3.5L NA engine which they had before in favour of the 3.3L NA and then gave it TT.
And new 3.0 V6 Diesel is a pipe dream! Something like that with would produce close to 500lbs or torque!
They already discontinued their old 3.0L Diesel and came up with the 2.2L Diesel.
Engines don't appear out of nowhere. If they were developing it, we would know long in advance!

It's know that Hyundai has been working on a new Lambda 3.5T engine for sometime now. There was speculation that probably they will be using them on the 2020 G80 and the GV80
