  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just recently purchased my Genesis, and I'm curious about whether using the standard gasoline (that "may contain up to 10 percent ethanol") vs. using pure gas with no ethanol, which is available in this area, is a good idea or is it worth paying 25 cents or so per gallon to get 100 percent pure gas without the ethanol?

Are any of the gasoline additives that supposedly clean the fuel injection system of the supposed problems caused by ethanol good to use, and do you all advise using them?

Also, I noticed years ago in my 2009 Maxima, when I filled up with "regular" gasoline including the 10 percent ethanol, the system said I had 400 miles to go until empty. But once when I was very close to empty, which was rare, I filled up with pure gas with no ethanol, and it said 440 miles until empty. Is the ethanol basically worthless as fuel, as that would suggest?

Last, first: The miles to empty is based on the the last 50+ miles of driving. Thus, the 440 miles to empty was based on the last miles of driving with E10. The miles to empty will change while you are driving if you start driving harder or easier.

As for using E10, I've got 25,000+ on my Gennie with nothing but E10. Running fine.

Some people think that by using E10, your hair will start to fall out and you will become less popular with the ladies.

Some people claim that you get better gas mileage, but you will have to see it it's worth the extra 25 cents.

Cars are made to run on E10
