  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GENESIS 2015, 3.8L RACK AND PINION MOTOR BURNT

The part numbers seem the same for both the AWD and RWD racks, which make sense that the part would be the same for both versions. So I would just go with a rack from a RWD car and just reuse the specific mounting brackets and hardware that your AWD car may need. However, I would take a very good look at the parts to ensure that it is interchangable from rack to rack.

Note: I think that the part site information could be wrong. The 2015 5.0 RWD model has a similar looking rack with a different part number ending with B1200 not B1400 like the 3.8 listing. However, both the 5.0 AWD and RWD racks have the same park numbers ending in B1200; so maybe the 3.8 part numbers are correct. Weird.

The inner tie rod ends are different between the RWD and AWD, and are included with the rack assembly.

OEM Inner tie rod ends for RWD were impossible to find some years ago, hopefully they are available again and if not, aftermarket is available.

I found this amazon store to have one at a cheaper price. I'm a bit hesitant about purchasing from here though.
What you guys think?

Seem like the best price with the proper part number. I would give it a shot. Grab the tiger by the tail.:)

The part website I normally used seems to have listed the wrong part numbers for the steering racks. Therefore, one rack will not work for both 4WD and 2WD models.

Your findings are correct.
Appears so.

I am also researching this issue for my own ride just in case I may need to replace my own steering rack as well. I may have to go the Korean Big Tiger store route if i need a new rack.

My point was that between the two versions, for sure the tie rod ends are a different design. Probably the rack itself is the same, but I can't say that for certain.

The two racks does seem to be designed differently as well if you look at the diagram art of them. Best bet to assume that they are just different parts overall and are not interchangeable with a tie rod swap.

Ended up buying directly from Korea. Since I could not find anything lower than $4000 here in the states. I was to skeptic with the seller in Amazon.
Bought from this website sparekorea.com, $2000 shipped.
