  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spoke with Genesis media rep, David, today.
He said no date has been set for dealer signs for Genesis brand.
Also, media campaign would start later this month, if I remember correctly.
It would be nice to say, "Haven't you seen the ads on TV?", when people ask, "Who makes it?"

Just tell them the truth - Hyundai makes it.

Tell them that Genesis Motors is having a "soft opening." As a matter of fact, it seems to be getting softer every day. I keep hoping they'll shift into 8th gear.

It's hard when people are still so stupid about "Hyundai". We have an outdoor mall of sorts here in South Florida - and somebody was walking around a Genesis Sedan positioned by the local dealer for people to look at. This person really liked the car and wanted to buy it - until I told her it was made by Hyundai.

Lexus wouldn't have done as well had 'everyone' known it was owned by Toyota. For Hyundai's sake - I'm not going to mention their name when people ask me who makes Genesis Motors products. I'm going to say, "Genesis Motors - a new luxury brand"...

I think most people knew Lexus was Toyota - if I recall, that association was in most of the press coverage? Granted, Toyota had a better rep and brand image than Hyundai seems to (unfairly, imho).
I wonder if the G80/G90 VIN tags on the door says "Genesis Motors" or "Hyundai Motor Company" like my 2016 shows?

All enthusiasts knew and perhaps people who paid attention to the press. But "most" people - your every day car buyers - had no idea. Many people to this day still have no idea that Lexus, Infiniti and Acura are Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Most people have no idea what a Genesis is when they see the winged badge. Bentley? Chrysler? Something else? No idea it's a Hyundai...

Yeah, that's a good question about whether the VIN tags on the door say Genesis Motors or Hyundai... For the longest time, perhaps even still today, Lexus cars had various mentions of Toyota on their vehicles. Hardly anyone notices/noticed them - but they were there (and maybe still are)...

Door VIN Tag says, "Made in Korea by Hyundai Motors Company" my G80 was made May 18, 2016. Window etching shows wings, no mention of Hyundai as with 2015's.

Thank you for that information! Wings etched into the windows? That's unique!
