  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Striking, as most concept cars are. What actually winds up on the roads, we won't know until the production model gets final approval.

I'm not sure what the strategy of announcing this together with the G70 intro is. On one hand, I guess it could show off the company as a forward-thinking organization. On the other, it seems to detract from the G70 announcement. Also, since the G70 isn't yet a reality in the US, it makes one wonder when or if the new concept car's eventual real-world version will ever materialize. So in a sense, the G70 also detracts from the Essentia. Separating the two events strikes me as a better option, garnering attention twice and not having either announcement dilute the other. Oh well, what do I know.

Maybe I don't know anything either, but I agree with your take on it. I think it was a mistake, quite frankly, and the way it was done with the G70 as almost an aside, a temporary distraction. The concept is way out in left field from the "DNA" that has been carefully crafted, that being timeless classy part conservative and at the same time modern upscale designs. Agree that concepts are sometimes this way though, but only certain manufacturers. Some like Honda usually have "concept cars" that are close to production, not before.

Well, the Essentia concept certainly raised awareness of the Genesis brand - at least among auto enthusiasts.

It did that. It has the looks to keep up with any of the sport and super cars that exist. Electrics have great acceleration to so it would be fun to drive, assuming the chassis is as good as the body. .

The G70 though, did not seem to get all that much publicity. I have to wonder if they wanted to make it known but avoid a lot of fanfare until they are ready to actually deliver. You don't want people in the showroom and have nothing to show them yet. They may walk out and go across the street to the BMW dealer.

The G70 was the worst-kept secret for the US market but they had to make it official. Just like in Canada, when the car is nearing launch there will be an all-out media assault.

^ Plus, it's been out in Korea for months and reviewers from all planned markets have long done First Drive tests of the KDM version.

The G70 embargo in Canada ends April 30th. The media will be flogging the car around a track so expect to see some reviews after the 30th.

^ Definitely will check out the Straight Pipes review (those guys seem to have an in with Hyundai and Kia).

Going back to the Essentia, Fitzgerald is pushing to get it into production.

Wouldn't be a bad way to launch the in-development Genesis EV platform(s).

Yours truly will also be at the track at the end of the month so I will also give a review of the cars compared to the other vehicles in its class! :drive:

As much as i love the handling in my 335i as i am sure the G70 handling is great i would much prefer fast straight line performance which i hope the G70 delivers !!

Korean cars are getting 4.2s 0-60 so I would presume ours will be around there!
