Hey all,
Was wondering if anything like this has happened to anyone else.
I bought a '22 G70 July 1. I was going to pay cash, but the dealership asked me to finance $10k to qualify for the $1k cash rebate. The sales manager wanted to me to make a minimum of 3 payments.
I received my first bill and made a payment of $9700, leaving a balance of $330 or so. A couple weeks later I receive a letter from Genesis Finance saying my account is paid-in-full. I look on my online portal and it still shows the balance of $330.
A few days later I receive the physical title as well as a second letter again saying the account is paid-in-full. I check the online portal again, and now it's showing a $0.00 balance. They payment history showed my original payment of $9700, but also showed a second payment of $9700 the following day.
I double checked my bank accounts and verified only one withdrawal was made. I call Genesis Finance and they said I have a refund check of $9300 heading my way. I'm boggled at this point.
After speaking with Genesis Finance again, they figured out there was an error in their system, reflecting the second payment. They said the account is closed and have a good day.
Part of me wonders what would have happened had I kept the refund check, but I knew it wouldn't be right and my bank could withdraw the funds at a later date. I do wonder if they'll at some point come back and say I still owe the remaining balance of $330.
What are your thoughts?
