  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

that certainly wasn't true in my case...they've now told me to pound sand, despite having an open case. i bought new in 2023.

That is unacceptable and I'm very sorry to hear about the way you were treated. Genesis customer care broke repeated promises in terms of the NACS rollout campaign and apparently this was also one of them. I was told repeatedly as long as you had an open ticket you would eventually get an adapter.

Have you tried requesting one through the dealer since you didn't get it from Genesis?

i could try, but the dealer doesn't seem super service-focused either, and i'm disappointed enough. i'd rather give them a chance to do something right.

I would open a case with BBB. It is very simple and for me got immediate attention from the escalation team. It will escalate above the normal CSR and I bet you will get an adapter.

You leveraged BBB for the free adapter? While I agree that this has been an epic fail and worked very hard to get my adapter, I am surprised that the BBB gets involved in a free giveaway. Please share more.

No, on something else but they gave me $1k for gas and hassle.... Genesis has a whole diffrent team to handle BBB complaints.

It finally happened - I got my NACS adapter. I opened a case back in June 2025. Have called on it multiple times and gotten various excuses why it hadn't shipped. But it did finally show up. No emails, no tracking info. At this point, that obviously doesn't matter. Pleased that Genesis finally came through!

I own a 2024 GV60, which I love. I NEVER got an email at any time about getting a free NACS adapter. Now Genesis tells me that this offer is no longer available. That's really annoying. So...if I were to buy an NACS adapter on my own, what brand/model would you all recommend? Thank you.

My recommendation is to stick with OEM certified adapters. If you use a 3rd party adapter that has not been certified (and zero third party adapters are certified) you run the risk of being on the hook for the repairs (both to your car and the supercharger) if something goes south.

Tesla specifically states that non OEM certified/provided adapters are not approved for use on their SC network.

Before I received the Genesis adapter, I was using the Ford NACS adapter which underwent rigorous testing and was certified:

I have the Genesis OEM adapter and the one from A2Z. www.a2zev.com

Same here. Not sure which one I'll use the next time I need a charge at a supercharger. For now I'm waffling by keeping both in the car.
I also keep both in the car, however I normally just charge at home. In my area of California Tesla used to price each kw depending on the time of day. Now “non Tesla” members are charged a flat 64 cents a kw! 😳

Yes, I also normally charge at home unless I'm on a long trip. And when I'm on a trip I'll try to use EA chargers, since that is still free for me for another 15 months. So far I have never actually needed to charge at a Tesla supercharger, but I have done it a couple of times just to make sure it worked (once with each adapter), and I think one or two other times when it was convenient because of congestion at EA. And twice at EVgo - one time to set up my Autoccharge+ and a second time to see if it worked (it did). I have yet to get a chance to try Rivian, Ionna or BP Pulse.

I definitely appreciate having as many options as possible on a road trip. And who knows, eventually I may need the adapter to charge at an Ionna station (if all of the CCS ports are full), or pehaps some other brand as J3400 ports become more common.

I don't recall Genesis sending emails at the beginning of the offer. I found out about it during a service visit.

Is that the going rate in your area? most 350kw chargers in my area are 50 to 55 cents/kw. $.64 seems high for a nerfed charging rate. (I have seen high prices at dealerships, but I think that is to keep random EVs off of their lots and chargers)

Yes the .64 is the flat rate in my area of Northern California.

a nerfed charging rate
What do you mean by that? Because the GV60 is limited to 97kw at 400v stations? If so, why should that make any difference to the rate per kwH? It's the car that won't take more than 97kw. Anyway the rate is not per minute, it's per kw. The 97kw limit simply means that it will take longer to on-board $10 of electricity. But that $10 will still take you the same number of miles, no matter how fast the charging rate is.
