Genesis G2 AC compressor problem

We as A G2 genesis owners have noticed and issues with many cars that the AC compressor totally stop working or weakness in compressing the gas

and that cause a failure in the cooling system


when ever those cars goes to the dealership the dealership change the compressor immediately and shows that it obvious to say that Hyundai and Genesis companies have an AC problems and need to be solved


have any one noticed the cooling system failure or poor performance in it ?

Been on these forums since 2010 gen1 and almost 2 years now with the gen2. You are the first to comment on AC issues. Mine cools extremely well, big improvement over the gen1 which was acceptable at best.

Both my G1 and G2 have no AC problems at all, South Florida 90F on Summer and 70F on Winter which means AC ON all the time.

Mine is also nice and cold. In any event, I have not seen any widespread reports of A/C issues on the G2 series. If that was the case, I think we would be seeing multiple posts on the subject. I also would expect that the OP's car should be under warranty. Have your dealer address the issue.

I guess there are two possibilities:

1. The problem is Saudi Arabia and not the Genesis.

2. The USA version has a different AC system than the KDM version (which is probably the same one as sold in Saudi Arabia). That may sound unlikely, but a lot of people did complain about the G1 Genesis system being weaker compared to other brands, which is not too surprising for a car made in Korea. It is possible that Hyundai beefed up the AC for units made for the USA on the G2.

Many German cars (especially MB) had relatively weak AC systems until they beefed up their AC for USA weather. It just doesn't get that hot in Germany, and the angle of the sun in Germany is not as direct as in more southern areas.

Do you have after-market window tinting on your Genesis? Many people who live in warmer USA climates get a high quality window tint using ceramic tint film. Also, it is good to avoid dark paint colors in extremely warm climates with intense sunlight. There was a reason why Don Johnson wore those white suits on "Miami Vice," and it was not just a "fashion trend."

personally i dont have that problem in my car i didnt face this problem but i have a doubt that i may face it due to so many people are facing it

the dealership keep changing the AC compressor because our car is under warranty for 5 years and unlimited miles

I have never used more then the second setting on my genny. I used a full blast of AC once and I started to grow ice particles in my beard..... No issues for me

I've ben very hapopy w my a/c so far, while the tint I just got made a surprisingly noticeable difference, and we got to 94f today, the a/c IMHO is very good, sooo much better than my Volvo, which have notoriously robust a/c systems

Where are you getting the info that the AC compressor is a problem? Are you in the US?
