  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife is interested in the 2019-2021 Genesis G70 3.3T. She doesn't like the look of the facelift (and the seat doesn't fit her as well) which is why we're looking at the earlier models.

I understand there are hard shifting issues with the transmission in these earlier models and there were some electrical gremlins in 2019. Are there any other issues we should be concerned about? How has the reliability been of these early models?

We've also looked at the Kia Stinger (says seat doesn't fit her well), Lexus GS (doesn't like the infotainment), Infiniti Q50 (doesn't like the seat). I refuse to consider BMW (cause BMWs) and she refuses to consider Mercedes (cause too Boujee she says). Nothing is interesting from Acura. She doesn't want a SUV or "big" car. The G70 is almost too big for her already. Funnily enough, the vehicle she is cross-shopping is the Toyota GR Corolla, lol.

She likes 'em smaller and sporty, that's great! For once someone doesn't want an SUV. The GR would be a hoot, but quite different from the G70 of course.
I have a 2019 G70 3.3 with about 30k miles. I haven't had any of the issues you mentioned, but I did have the brake vibration due to the crappy pads. You'll see there are numerous threads on this issue. Once you put on better pads, of which there are now numerous affordable options, the (Brembo) brakes are tremendous.
Ironically, I'm not crazy about the seat comfort (I find the bottom cushion too hard and flat) and bought a cushion for it, but that's a very individual thing. Most people seem to love the seats.
Good luck, happy shopping.

I have a 2020 3.3 sport. No issues and never been to a dealer. Have about 16k miles. When the car is cold I can feel a little bit of down shift when slowing down to stop. Once tranny is up to temps seems not noticeable to me. I do have some slight brake shutter, but only if needing to stop from speed and doing so pretty quickly So not worth monkeying with right now. Normal driving I don’t notice any brake peddle shutter. My biggest complaint is really with the inconsistent ability to use remote start from my phone. There is a problem with connected services somewhere? A lot of discussion on that subject here. Almost as if signal strength can vary day to day at the same location. I renew in April and probably will not renew that service.

I’ve had mine, 2019 3.3 awd sport, for a little over 3 yrs and 30k miles. So far my issues were brakes (brake pads specifically like everyone else), the front emblem needed replacing because some material flaked off, and the biggest issue that was replacing the infotainment screen. Make sure to check for any bubble type defects in the screen. Also the window trim discoloration is an issue for some but mine was buffed off and it never bothered me being chrome. I am in the process of changing it to black but it’s also not a big ticket item. Lastly, be sure to check the seats again, at least visually they didn’t look to be different between the two body styles. Hope this helps and good luck!

From what I heard and read it’s not exactly from crappy pads for the vibration. Current 2019 Genesis G70 3.3t Sport owner, meaning I have brembos and the premium dark grey wheels and copper trim the whole shaboing, anyway I have also had the same issues of wheel vibration since I bought the car at 48k miles more than a year ago. Everyone’s been saying it’s a factory issue across all trims. Anyway, I’m looking into replacing my rotors and pads soon. Let you know if that would change anything.

Is the vibration you're getting only during braking? If so, it is likely due to the crappy pads Genesis put on most of the trims, including yours and mine.
Just be sure to put on some better pads. There are plenty of threads and posts in this forum where you can read which pads people have had good luck with.
You may or may not need rotors - how many miles on it now?
