I will be keeping a record (unofficially) of what problems 2021 Genesis 3.5T AWD Prestige owners have.

Your input is important because there are so few of us!

Thanks for your time,

Lou

Since it might not be obvious to others, the OP means for the G80, not the GV80.

This is exactly what I was looking for, but it was probably too early to find anything, as cars barely started getting delivered recently. Will most likely wait until next year, but will follow this thread. Since Genesis has a lot to lose by not getting this new sedan (in a world of SUVs) mostly right, I assume they did more R&D than normal, so we'll see. I absolutely HATE having to take any car to a dealer, especially for mechanical issues, and after so many issues with first model years (especially with new engines), I'm probably going to wait, at least until the end of 2021 production, so any issues are already corrected at the factory.

I guess i should be the first one or unlucky one.
Sometime it does it.. happened 2 times.. attached. Drove about 6000 miles now.
*2021 g80 prestige 3.5
Windshield Washer bottle broke... in the dealer shop for 3 days now. called them, it seems They dont know where my car is. Haha. Told me to call them on monday... thats 6 days...
promised loaner car 2 weeks before, got there no loaner..
Problem is dealer service.. luxury is not there.
Dont even pickup call or return call.

*2021 gv80 2.5 advanced..200 mile on it.
Tire sensor went down to 39 to 17. Came back 39 about 5 minute later. Just once (dealer said some kind radio or interception did it. Like airplane ..haha...hmm...
(maybe alien.....??)

Complementary valet service is BS in my area.. they said TOO FAR.. too busy... i kind of knew this since 2015 equus, they only did once for my boss...dropped NiSsan rogue...keke. . I REALLY know, because i was the one called them and try to setup.. many many times... failed every time..
Dealer was 5 minute away from my office.. sooo far away... TooFar? .
so i didnt count on that first place ANYWAY..
I guess long warranty on hyundai cars, they have too many to fix..

I REALLY WISH THEY DO BETTER..
COMING FROM 15 YEAR 9 LEXUS... MOST SERVICE DONE IN 1 AND HALF HOURS. NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED. $5 DOLLAR LOANER CAR..

MAYBE I SHOULD NOT COMPARE. TOO LATE...hahaha

MY Conclusion
Hyundai terrible service makes up with cheaper maintenance cost..
Not even half the price, compare to lexus dealer service. Maybe they should think about charge more for faster service?? , for who need it..while i hate to pay for that sh*T..
what if i had only one car? 6 days without no car?
But genesis drives nice... =)

2021 2.5T G80 AWD Prestige (you asked for report on 3.5t, but thought 2.5T would be relevant too)
Over 6,000 miles
Earlier posts I complained about seat too hard, suspension too firm. But have gotten used to both, and now have no issues.
No problems to date. Took first real road trip recently (round trip Central Florida to Wilmington NC and back). Car performed great.
Took car to dealer once for service (Hyundai dealer in Melbourne FL). They gave me a loaner car and were very professional regarding service. No complaints.

I haven’t noticed that the seats are hard but I will be more aware. Did you notice the seat massager on the prestige? I found it to be so-so. It bumps my butt cheeks and it is somewhat annoying. The self parking is yet to be mastered by me. I tried a couple of times but I guess dementia has set in and I cannot remember the tricky (for me) steps to follow to accomplish the task. It’s a good thing that parallel parking is a snap for me. I am going on a 7 day cruise and right after that, I am having the car ceramic coated. When it is done, I will post before and after pictures.

I've had my '21 G80 Prestige for over a month now and agree with everyone (except one unfortunate individual) in this thread - it's great. No problems at all.

Agree seat massager is so-so, but then again I really don't have the need for a butt massage. But the back massager combined with with heated seat works great for a sore / tired back. Have not tried the self parking. If I understand the feature correctly, you must get out of the car and use the remote to "self park" the car? Really not sure why I would want to do that? Maybe someone could chime in and explain. Yes, I know this is off the original poster's topic but ........

As a korean... =)
In korea, their parking spot is very tight. Many high rise apartments, limited parking space.
Sometimes impossible to open door after park.
I am not sure, you could understand korean, but here is example, why we have RC car option on our keys. Haha.

Let's keep in mind that with the exception of one poster in this thread, none of the posts have anything to do with problems - merely preferences (likes & dislikes). It seems to be a very well built car with few reported issues.

I don't understand Korean, but the video was self explanatory. I thought the RC option was just for those who could not parallel park, but now I understand. Thanks!

Also posted in its own thread but thought I'd add to this one.

Took delivery of the beautiful car on July 9 2021. Less than 2900 miles on it. Driver seat functions are dead. No movement, no ventilation - nothing. Wife can't drive the car as seat is too far back and it is her car. Side mirrors do not actuate for reverse and sometimes do not collapse when locked. Battery is going dead if car not started daily. 2 trips to jump the car by Genesis/AAA this week. Selected Driver presets for A/C controls do not work. Media controls and buttons/mouse are glitchy on dash. Engine light came on while driving 2 days ago. Did not come on today. Remote start with app does not work. Remote start with fob works sometimes. Moving car forward/backward with fob results in car engine quitting. Genesis diagnostics show everything is operating normally. I am sure I have missed some of the glitches we have seen. Problems have been increasing and started out as intermittent. Most expensive disappointment ever.

Have an appointment to take it to a dealer for service Friday. Praying they keep their word and have a loaner car available as dealer is 120 miles away. The closest dealer would not call us back when we called for service appointment and they are 100 miles away.

Keeping a log with pics and videos.

Any suggestions my friends?

If you have not already, put a battery charger on it and make sure battery is fully charged (or at least takes a full charge). Sounds like you could be having electrical problems related to bad battery. If battery appears to be the culprit - push hard for the dealer to replace.

Other than that I would just be guessing. My G80 has been flawless. You may have just gotten a lemon, so check up on your state's lemon laws, document everything, and if it comes to it use your state's lemon law for financial recovery.

Good luck!

Below is a post I made in the transmission thread (didn't know this thread was here) regarding my 3.5 AWD Prestige with a transmission that had very rough shifts from first to second, and second to third gear.

Here's an update regarding the transmission in my 3.5 Prestige. Took it to the dealer September 8. After two days of diagnostics and conferring with Genesis technical support, the decision was made to replace the transmission. New transmission was ordered September 10, received September 23, and finished installation September 28. Returned the car to me today (September 29), and everything seems fine now. Genesis wants the dealer to return the original transmission ( only 600 miles on it) to them so they can do further analysis to determine what caused the problem.

On a side note, I had a 2.5 with the Advanced package for a loaner for 3 weeks, and it wasn't hard to get used to. The four cylinder was obviously a little louder under hard acceleration, but it had plenty of power, and was otherwise very smooth and quiet. The 3.5 with the Prestige package comes with a lot more options, but the only ones I really missed were the thigh extension on the driver's seat, the heads up display, and the surround view cameras. I actually think the 2.5 handles better, and is easier to drive than the 3.5. My guess is it's due to the lighter weight on the front axle with the four cylinder engine.

The HUD is money. Once you get used to it there's no going back.

Sounds like a bad or intermittent battery connection or a bad battery which can cause random failures like this. the 2015s had issues with battery positive connections. I would expect those were all sorted and resolved in the most recent models.

Elaborate!

My G80 3.5T, 8 speed transmission seems great to me.
Seems to choke sometimes, shifts seem to noticeable and literal. If I accelerate fast it's smooth. If I drive conservative, its very noticeable.
