SummaryHYUNDAI/GENESIS IS INITIATING SAFETY RECALL 012G TO ADDRESS A CONDITION PREVIOUSLY REFERENCED IN RECALLS 211/009G, 219, 220, 223, 229, 231, AND 238/011G REGARDING THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER. THIS RECALL INCLUDES CERTAIN, NEWLY IDENTIFED GENESIS VEHICLES BASED ON HYUNDAI/GENESIS' ANALYSIS AND TESTING USING RECOVERED PARTS ASSOCIATED WITH A KNOWN FIELD EVENT. FURTHER TESTING USING CRASH PULSE PARAMETERS SIMILAR TO THE KNOWN FIELD EVENT CONFIRMED THE SUBJECT GENESIS VEHICLES' SUSCEPTIBILITY TO MICRO GAS GENERATOR SEPARATION. HYUNDAI/GENESIS IS INITIATING THIS ACTION TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ITS VEHICLES FOR GENESIS CUSTOMERS.

Safety RiskTHE FRONT DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLES WERE INSTALLED CONTAINING PYROTECHNIC-TYPE PRETENSIONERS THATMAY DEPLOY ABNORMALLY DURING A CRASH. AN ABNORMAL PYROTECHNIC PRETENSIONERDEPLOYMENT COULD CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO ENTER THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT COMPARTMENT, WHICH MAY RESULT IN INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. THE POTENTIAL FORTHIS CONDITION IS DEPENDENT ON VEHICLE CHARACTERISTICS, PRETENSIONER LOAD LIMITER SPECIFICATION, AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT LOGIC, CRASH DURATION, AND SEVERITY.

Thanks for that. I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow for service, I will see if they know about this and can fix it while I am there, but I doubt it.

We waited about 6 months for a new fuel pump for our CX-5, after being warned that the engine could shut off unexpectedly.

Had a 2013 Mustang with Takada air bags that Ford didn't have parts to do the repair for years. Recall Notice recommended not driving the car.

Yeah, I had that too on an M3. It took over a year to get it. I drove it anyway because they said it was more of an issue in humid southern climates and I'm in the NE. Still wasn't happy about it.

I got the recall notice in the mail today so I guess they have the parts in.
