Is it possible to track a Genesis without a active Connected Services subscription? Do you need one/all of those services for law enforcement to locate the vehicle or is it possible to use, in some way, the car's internal GPS system? I know if the car is stolen, Genesis says the steps are to file a police report and then call Genesis Customer Care who will work with the police. How does Customer Care locate the vehicle? I assume it's similar to an owner using the Genesis App that has a vehicle locator feature in Remote. I do know that the app will not work without a paid Connected Services subscription. But the Remote feature will not work without Connected Care. You need both at $99 each/yr.

Things may have changed but according to a Genesis press release from 2016 you need to have the Connected Care package and the Remote package in order to have the Stolen Vehicle Recovery/Slowdown/Immobilization option.

I think it may break down to "can we" versus "will we". Without a paid subscription there is no obligation for them to locate the car. AFAIK, there is no way for the consumer to communicate directly, all commands go through BlueLink servers, It would work similar to tracking a cell phone.

The GPS system locates off of GPS satellites but that is a one way system that you cannot contact. It also would get no signal indoors or under a cover so would not be very reliable if the car is hidden inside.

LoJack or skylink are pretty much the offline, no monthly fee trackers.

LoJack requires the PD to have their equipment.

Skylink uses the web if the police have an active account with them, however if they don’t you can activate a subscription account to use the web for real time tracking at any time, even after a Theft. Theirs is both active and passive where LoJack is only passive.

Skylink also connects to the serial port on the ODBII for data logging which if you have the paid app/web subscription you can put into a valet mode to record dealer/valet abuse. It’s what I used to catch a Lexus dealer abusing my car doing 100+ mph sprint runs and drifting during an oil change service.

You complained??? They just wanted to be sure the oil is well circulated around the engine. Not every dealer is that thorough.

Blue Link no longer offers packages for Genesis....because of 3g. How are we supposed to get our recovery packages now

You could plug an old phone with GPS and track it.
