  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After 4 1/2 years of "Gennie" faithfully understanding my channel commands, she went partially deaf today. The only channels she recognizes are single digit commands like "Channel four," and not always those.

After the hundreds of times I have said "Channel Sinatra" and had her reply "Channel Seriously Sinatra.", today she comes back with something like "Channel 78." I don't have a cold or anything that would change my voice.

This has persisted through 4 trips today. I can't see that I have changed anything that would cause this. Any ideas?

Are you talking about Sirius?
Maybe you need to Renew your signal!
Account has an issue?

XM channels? If so, look in the XM settings area for the category filter and channel list. If the list is empty, the voice recognition won't work for channels by name. Mine 2009/Tech clears the category list at random intervals.

Don't know what I did this morning, but Genny must have a new hearing aid. She is responding to channel commands by name correctly again. I did not knowingly change anything.

Just one more strange happening to add to the periodic episodes of no sound at all for an hour or so and the frequent and random 10-second silent periods.

I've been having the same issue for over two weeks. Changing settings hasn't helped. Have you had anything done at the dealership lately?

Perhaps your car is just sick of Sinatra?

I mostly move around among five favorite stations which she has always recognized by voice unless the AC fan is going at maximum speed. I have learned to slow down the fan before giving a command.

No problems at all since the original happening.

This is just one reason why I bought a Premium package only car. I just have to touch the virtual buttons on my Nav screen to change a station. Or, I just press the memory channel up/down buttons on the steering wheel. That DIS controller on the Tech package turns every simple command need into a major project.
