  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

so a few days ago my check engine light came on and the car started shaking when i first started it when cold. I took it to the dealer and they cleared the code. After i drove it for about an hour the light came back on. The dealer kept the car and i was told that it was the "exaust CCVT" that needs replacing. I have been waiting for two days and i was told half the engine had to be taken apart to replace it. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

have not heard of that particular issue on these forums but it in fact the valve timing mechanism is bad it would result in your symptoms. They probably have to pull the front cover, timing chain and valve covers to get to it so yeah probably a two day job. hopefully if fixed correctly you won't have any issues.

How many miles on the engine?

I just made 13k miles. I'm worried about how it will come out and the problems I may face afterward. Like you said"if done correctly" which with my luck it will end up worst then before. Luckily I have a great advisor so I'm sure he will do right by me.

I think this is the first time I have read anything about this part failing.

I doubt it will end up wurst.

Let's hope so. I haven't taken my car to the dealer for any reason. Not to get the moon roof rattle checked, not to get the wind noise inside the cabin checked just for the reason that I don't want to end up coming back for more issues that may arise from this fix. I'll wait and see how this will go. Fingers crossed....lol

Good attitude - I gotta take both my cars to the body shop next week for hail damage. Probably half the fasteners & cap screws will be thrown away when things like the headlight/taillight assy's are R&R.
