  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Long story short, the parts cannon is empty, I have shot everything at it. fuel pump assembly with regulators, fuel pump relay, fuel pump resistor, injectors, crank shaft sensors. cam shaft sensors, injector control module, and other various evap components, all based on trouble codes, dealership recommendations, etc. nothing has worked and the problem is still there. Coming up on 1 year without the use of a vehicle that I am still paying for! beyond frustrating doesn't begin to describe it. However, being someone who will not give up until I win, here we are.

Initial diagnosis was low fuel pressure at on the low side. I have a check valve in place before the HPFP. That prompted the fuel pump replacement. Problem persisted so I took a few months off to reset and start over from a more diagnostic approach since the parts cannon isn't working.

Checked voltage at the pump, and its intermittent, sometimes get full battery, sometimes get random mV readings, aka none. when I bypass the FP relay, I get full battery and good pressure. Its once the car starts, then I lose battery, but not immediately, it kind of comes and goes, and more recently just goes to 0 and I lose all fuel pressure, then the car leans out and dies.

I then tested pin 3 on the fuel pump relay and it does have battery. I took a small wire and stuck it into the port with pin 5, replaced the relay and used it to test and see if I'm getting voltage through the relay, initially I get voltage that activates and primes the pump, then once the car starts, I see the voltage go to 13.5 from the alternator being active, but then after a few seconds, it flakes out and I lose voltage and pressure, car stumbles and dies.

The relay is new, so I doubt that's the problem. Where do I go next? Is it possible something is telling the ECM to shut off the FP? How do I determine if it's a faulty ECM flaking out on the FP signal(ecm pin 38-fuel pump relay output)? or some other sensor or bad part telling the ECM to shut off fuel? any help is greatly appreciated. I don't get much free time to work on this with all my family obligations and I'm just ready to be done.
