  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys - new member here. I test drove a 2009 3.8L V6 Genesis sedan today. I think its a "Premium Package"? Anyway.. its the exact color scheme I want (Black/Cashmere). Its only got 11K on it and comes certified with a 100K warranty - I just wanted to make sure I'm getting a good price at $31K. What do y'all think?

If it has Navigation, then it is Technology Package.

If it has sunroof but no Navigation, and if it has 18" inch wheels/tires it is Premium Plus Package. If 17" wheels/tires, then Premium Package. Looks like yours has the 18" wheels.

If no sunroof and 17" wheels, then base model.

$31K seems a little high to me for a 2009 Premium Plus with 11K miles on it. What is the build date (check the sticker in the driver door jam)? The list price on a new 2011 Genesis with Equivalent Package is probably about $37K, which means you should be able to get one for about $35K at most (or $34K for a 2010 model).

Thanks for the input. I might try to get them to come down some more. Yes it has sunroof and no nav, but it does have an lexicon mp3 input something... What is the diff between premium and premium plus?

Where do these guys come from? Mr. Dynamite please ask your mother when she lays out your pajamas tonight--

Paid $31K for new 2009 3.8 w/premium plus package back in March. Given that the 2011's are now for sale (making a 2009 two model-years old), I would suggest you push for a lower price. Perhaps in the range of $29K? Happy bargaining.

Good of you to consult the forum before your purchase. You should/can do better than $31K. Depending on how good you are at negotiating I'd stay at $27,500.

Throw that number out there and stick to it. There is always room to go up but $31K is too much.

Thanks for the positive comments, guys. I'll wheel and deal today and we will see what happens.

Minor correction - you can get 3.8 Premium with touchscreen navigation: this is not the technology package. I opted for this one because the tech is more expensive and includes stuff I don't care about.

I agree - I paid $32k for my PP 3.8 new in 2009 - you should go for a lower price, or consider the Hyundai Circle program for getting new at invoice (ish). The dealer shouldn't expect more than $27k for this car - the question will be if you two can meet on price or not.

Also, just to clarify in case anyone is wondering,. Hyundai changed the packages from 09 to 10. Touchscreen nav was only avail on the Tech package in 09.

I think that's high for a used vehicle -I would try for a 2010 at that price - hit the dealers at the end of the month when they are trying to meet quota's - With the 2011 comings they will want to move through that inventory . You can get more !!!!

I purchased my 2009 4.6 Tech for $35K from a private party and it had around 3Kmi on it - FYI
