  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I posted last week about the instrument panel lights (ring around speedo/tach) flickering and warning symbols flashing on (incliding red flashes behind the striangular symbol). Today I've been unable to start the car (2013 V-6) twice. Upon trying to start the car the brake pedal has felt unnaturally hard and all power is gone. After praying, pushing the start button several times, etc the car has started. Anyone????

Battery going bad possibly. Not enough amperage. Possibly a dead cell or sulfated, which builds up resistance and doesn't allow the battery to charge as it should.

Dealership called to say that the problem is a bad alternator and battery. Happy to hear that but almost disappointed that I get a real whopper to let me feel good about the warranty cost(LOL).

Glad you have the problem under control and are getting it repaired.

So what went bad first, the battery or the alternator?

It's rare for both to go bad and it not be caused by the other.
