  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

im really frustrated right now (not because of the car choosing its just the SOML (story of my life) >_>) i think i asked this earlier today but bleh sorry if i did.
ugh okay so i have the luxurious option as a spoiled child who worked his way through academics to get my parents to get me a car i actually wanted. im driving a 2010 mustang v6 (yes, i know another brand new car >_>). but anyways i was just wondering which gen coupe i should get?

i want to get the 200 turbo cuz i want to feel boost (been driving NA cars) but i don't know because i seriously wonder how a convo with my dad would go saying, "HEY DAD? WANNA BUY ME SOME AFTERMARKET PIECES FOR MY CAR?? ??" i'd probably just get beat up or something LOL. sigh*

i want the v6 because it has plenty of power from the get go! but i dont really think theres too many mods out there for a 380gt so yeah..

i do plan to mod for sure in the future. i was gonna put this in another thread but for the hell of it ill ask this here: will modding a CAI and getting a new exhaust void warranty? i really do need to know this (it'll determine how fast i get mods on my car ^^) i live in so-cal if that makes a difference in this question.

hopefully you guys all can give me some input. i really want to make the right decision on my gen coupe as it'll be the last car i get without using my own labor and sweat to buy it.

im also REALLY sorry if this entire post is incoherent as if a 2 year old wrote it >_< my girlfriend is in a heated argument with me >_> ugh. soml with this girl :/ but i do love her :] <-- unnecessary comment but MEH.

The CAI or new exhaust system will only void the warranty if the dealership can prove that it was the CAI or the new exhaust system that caused the problem. Look up the "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" and give it a read. But normally a CAI or exhaust system won't void your warranty. However, I'm not familiar with California smog laws but I'd bet you'd need to get a CAI that is CARB legal.

As for which car to get, you'll really need to test drive both if you haven't already. I drove both and chose the 3.8 for it's "oh my god this thing has quite a bit more power than the 2.0" power. Yeah, the mod possibilities are light now, but they are very slowly trickling in. We'll be seeing cams and one or two supercharger packages by the end of the year. And someone is working on a turbo package as well. And 400HP will be attainable. Anyway, I'm already 90hp above the 2.0 so I'll end up spending less money in the long run to get the 350-360 HP that I'd like to be at. Then again the 2.0 does get slightly better gas mileage than the 3.8 (I average about 26 mpg). But if you like the "psssshhhh" sound then, well, you gotta go with the 2.0.

Lots of NA power....or just a little boosted power..................Not a difficult decision in my book.
