  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay, so yes, the title says it. I have unexpectedly gotten a 2015 genesis as my first car! My grandpa was originally going to give me his old 2017 hyundai elantra gt and get himself a new car, but he changed his mind and wanted to keep it and give me the new car. The budget range was right around $25,000. I looked at some other cars first, like some used 2019 sonotas, and a brand new 2022 elantra. I liked those cars but I still wanted to explore all of my options. So i figured why don't I just get me a used 2015 genesis sedan as it was actually my dream first car. So i did just that. Found one on carvanna and got it delivered. Have loved it so far. Found one with pretty low mileage (only 45,000 miles) so that's good. I just love how quick and sturdy the car is, not to mention all of the safety tech and luxury. I think I might have gotten too nice of a first car. Either way, love the car. Any opinions? Is a genesis a bad first car? Have fun discussing y'all!

Congrats!

The answer to the question about the Genesis being a good first car or not depends on your income and ability to fix any issues that may occur with a used luxury car out of warranty.

Generally used luxury cars are more expensive to maintain than a cheaper non-luxury model like a Honda Civic or Hyundai Sonata.
