If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well...The car came in Friday this is how it went:

I arrived at the dealership at 3:00 knowing good and well that the car was not there but I wanted to go on and get all the money situated for the deal. As I was walking in the dealership I noticed everyone was walking outside...as if they were looking at some weird spaceship landing in the parking lot! Sure enough it was the GENESIS 4.6 rolling in on 18 wheels of steel. Needless to say, my eyes were as big as the rest of them:eek:. I just walked up and joined the group of onlookers as part of the team. After a few minutes the general manager noticed I was in the group and immediately recognized ME as the new owner of the spaceship. It was like I was all the sudden hailed as a God:o to these people and they began to worship me for some reason...and after driving it all weekend I now realize why! It took me 4 hours to finally leave the dealership.

Once the money exchanged hands and all the protective stickers were removed from the car they gave me a gas ticket to fill up the car. Out of courtesy I invited anyone who wanted to go...well, they did. I loaded 4 big guys in the car and we were rolling. We pulled in the Shell station, which is sandwiched between the Toyota and Dodge dealers, to began filling her up when all the sudden another group of worshipers began coming out of the parking lots. They were in AWE of my spaceship and one guy was filling up his new loaded 300c and told me that he made a gravely mistake! Needless to say it took 30 min. to fill my car up with gas. I was talking to the 300c owner while all the other guys were making sales pitches of my car.

I finally got home around 7:00 to go and hide the car from my wife in the storage unit (her Christmas present). I needed to run buy the house and get the keys. As I came around the corner I noticed my dog planting a mud bomb in the yard and then my wife standing there patiently on the dog. I think I said a cuss word for the first time in a long time. She was supposed to be at work until 8:00. Well, its no longer a Christmas present. She wanted it NOW and well, I dont blame her! She is pregnant and got sick at work...so she came home early!

The same thing happened at church on Sunday morning. Most of the men of the congregation had to check out the ride. I think I may have sold about 15 cars for Hyundai!

I took it to work this morning because I have to go get a tag. Sure enough my friend in his Dodge 5.7 Wagon pulled up next to me...well, he was my breakfast! We were on brand new paved roads and my ESC was going off like crazy. I'm surprised I still managed to beat him!

Anywho. Love the car, the ride, the looks, and the horses!

The Final Deal:

-2 years of oil changes
-full tank of premium gas
-a hat
-upgraded to 10 year/100,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER for $1200
-free carwashes at the dealership for as long as I own the car

Yall have a great day and Ill be posting HD Videos and Pictures soon!

Matt:D

Matt,

Great story. Not often you get to be a car-celebrity!

Now you will have to come up with something else for graduation, birthday and Christmas :D

Thanks guys!

Simon= Your not kidding! Maybe a tank of gas or something!!!! HA!!!

Jon= GREAT to be here!

I just looked at my tracking information on USPS.com and my BIG WING emblem for the trunk is in my mailbox already! I also ordered the LED lights for the license tag so they should be here in a week or so. Other than that...there is really nothing else I can do to it besides hardwire my Beltronics Pro RX65 Radar detector.

Also, even when you push the ESC button to the OFF position it is still never off. I floored it at a green light with the ESC OFF and it still activated almost immediately. That kinda stinks! At least let me roast the tires a little...

Anywho...back to work

Awesome story and congratulations on your new ride!!

Unfortunately, there is a new federal regulation on all cars that are sold in model year 2009 that they MUST have ESC partially on even though the OFF button is pressed by the driver. It's unfortunate but thats what the government wants so blah.. Anyway's I'm sure somebody will come up with a bypass pretty soon (like always).

Damn! I love this story! Congratulations, Matt! Post pictures in your photo album when you get a chance...

I believe this might be the first 4.6 story with some real life performance information.
I know many don't want to push new cars too hard and also this is primarily a luxury car first, but some of the V8 guys were getting me a little down with the lack of talk about performance or some mentioning how it feels tame in comparison to other V8s.

I'm not really much of a performance guy anyway and I would prefer luxury over power but it is still very interesting to know how these vehicles stack up to the competition. Especially the V8. I wouldn't want to necessarily dampen the luxury with a roughly tuned engine but then again if you're going to pay for the V8, it would be nice to know it can hang with others in it's class and match/beat most normally aspirated vehicles.

Ok guys...thanks for all the comments!

Well, on the way home from work my other friend in his new Cobalt SS pulled up next to me cruising down Hwy 20 as just a looker...you know, checking out the car. Well when he seen/saw (grammar?) me he smiled real big and revved his little motor. HA! Dont get me wrong but the little Cobalt will run. I raced it plenty of times in my Camry. Well of course it ended up that we stopped at a traffic light right beside each other. He raced his little weed-eater machine and bounced it off the rev limiter a few times and then BOOM...here we go...or well...there I went! Poor fellow was "Dust in the Wind!" Believe it or not I managed to get the car sideways a little on the take off. What a feeling! Being able to get a 4100 lbs car to scratch off sideways was fun! Then, surely enough, the ESC kicks in harshly and puts me back in the saddle.

I talked to the guy this morning and he was in awe. He said the car looked so cool when rear end slammed the ground and drifted to the right. I simply said: "Thanks bud," as I was chuckling inside!

Well, more will come. I have a lead foot just like my daddy and I will run anything that acts like it wants to.

I have a new HD Canon Vixia HV30 and I want to take some good videos so be expecting them on YOUTUBE before too long. I will also embed the links in some post so you can watch them here.

Oh Yeah...after my little run I reset the average MPG thingy to read zero and cruised @70mph all the way home. I averaged 22.8 mpg with some pretty big hills involved. I can only imagine what I can get doing 80 on straight interstate. Well, to know for sure, I will fill up the tank a few times to get some good numbers.

Have a good day guys and I promise there will be more to come :D

Matt

PingGolf,

Awesome story. It was a "page turner" LOL. I'm looking forward to some pics.

P.S. Do you have a Southern Accent?

Hey - isn't the Genesis enough? That should take care of at least 2 years worth of "stuff" (George Carlin routine).

*Makes mental note to not buy PingGolf's Genesis when it's up for sale... :p

Well, like I told Toyota when I purchased all my supercharged vehicles from them...if they cant take the heat they need to stay out of the kitchen. I drive my cars hard from light to light, taking on anyone who wants to run...UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT! Once speed limit is reached I am DONE! That is the end of my stupidity. That is also the reason I have always purchased cars with extended warranties. The superchargers from toyota are warranted for 100k miles IF INSTALLED BY THE DEALER. So basically you can give it HE!! and not really worry about it. Now that I have my warranty with Hyundai...I can give it HE!! I really dont plan on selling it anytime soon either!

But really, if you keep it out of the red zone, keep all your fluids new and clean the car IMO will be better off than someone who has never taken their car over 3000rpm...LIKE MY WIFE. Her explorer before we married was never driven even close to 70 mph. much less punched at any red light. When I drove it for the first time I hammered it to see how it would do and nothing but suit and black smoke came from the tail pipe. Keep in mind it had around 26k miles. That told me real quick how the car was driven. Now that I have driven it quite a bit it does not smoke at all.

I really dont know where I'm heading with all that jibber-jabber so I reckon I will quit now. HA!:p

Well...Yall have a great day and like daddy always said "Drive it like you stole it!!"

And so I do:cool:

Hahha... did I hit a nerve? I'm just messing with you.

Seems like you need some days at the track :D

Heck, if I have enough money to toss around, I may consider the coupe as a car to spank. But the Genesis sedan has me entertaining the thought of giving it a track day or two ;)

Pinggolf: Contratulations on becoming a Genesis beliver. I also love my Blk/Sdl with Tech Pckg. V6. I swear if I had a dollar everytime some checked out the car, gave me thumbs up or just starred I could pay my monthly payments and car insurance - LOL!

I hope your wife and you enjoy it as much as I've loved mine. Congrats!!!

Big Elm!

I knew you were! HA!

I WOULD LOVE A TRACK DAY.....and I wish we had one near by!

FLEX59!

You are correct. Maybe we need to offer rides around the block for a nominal charge. I guarantee people would pay it...I would!
