  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yes, it's true and if I try to set up a destination the GPS wants me to drive to where it thinks I am before it will navigate me to the new destination.

It also displays the map with north being on the lower left of the screen and of course south on the upper right of the screen. I have the GPS set to have HEADING at the top of the screen. The red position arrow is pointing UP.

I re-read the manual to no avail except that it states that if the gps loses track of your position (usually the car being moved on a ferry or a battery failure) the GPS will reset itself........but it's been three days now and a road trip is to begin on 6/22and it has NOT reset itself.. I have a service appointment on Monday 6/18.

Any suggestions???????

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

If it's not resetting then I would suggest taking it into your local dealer, if your under 36k miles the navigation system is covered under your factory warranty. I recently picked up an extended warranty for my Genny to cover the electronics and other parts that would no longer have coverage after the 36k mark. Just one repair to select parts of the electronics could far exceed the cost of the warranty.

Hope this helps some, best wishes :)

Thanks for the info

I also have an extended warranty and have less then 13,000 miles on her.

I have an appointment to take her in this Monday.

Thanks again.

Took the car in for an oil change and hopefully a fix for the gps. When I was called to pick it up, I asked what was wrong with the gps...ans: no problem found. Got in the car and looked at the gps ....map was on a 45 degree angle and my position was still approx 3 miles away. If I plotted a route, gps wanted me to drive about 3 miles before navigating would start.
I was asked when it started to do that (about five days ago). Asked if it was raining when it started (NO) . So now it appears there is a problem and I have to return Wednesday to get a new antenna installed (I wouldn't bet on it being fixed then).

Took Genny in for a new antenna. The antenna was delivered and installed but as I suspected......still have the problem. Now I go back next Tuesday to have a $3400 amp unit (not head unit) which is in the trunk replaced. Service writer said something about an optical wire having a break. More as it occurs.

Well, returned the loaner and picked up Genny.
They replaced a head unit not an amplifier. Works well now. Car was all
washed and vacuumed. The effort was somewhat beneficial in that the new
head unit contained the updated map......HOORAY.
Glenn, the service writer did a fine job this time. Thanks Glenn and Pugi Hyundai.

(The bad news is that I have to reconstruct the address list but that's a
small price to pay for an updated map.
