Getting familiar with the group...
Hello all. Just thought I would give some feedback on my new purchase.
A little about me and my car experiences. I currently own one of the fastest GT2's in the country and also own an M3 (had a built motor and made 644 rwhp...until it blew up, now I am going back to stock).
I traded in my C63 and E350 for the Horse. People who are not familiar w/ the Equus ask "why did you trade your Mercedes/AMG for a Hyundai???
I did it because, 1, I don't need another high hp car (GT2 makes 800 at the wheels on C16, 630 on pump) but more importantly, because the Equus is such a phenomenal car.
Last week I arranged to do a straight sell to my Mercedes dealership of my 2010 C63. Dealer was going to give me $49.5. I accepted because I thought I could use the tax advantage (here in Texas, you get a tax credit on your trade in). My plan was to take advantage of the tax credit and a year from now I was going to get the Genny 5.0 R-spec. However, I found out that the tax credit was only if I purchased from the same dealer.
So, I did a true car search and found out that a (supposedly) no haggle price of $44.5 could be had on the R-spec. I went down to the Stealarship for a test drive. I test drove it, got an appraisal on my C63 (they of course low balled me, offering my $46K). Then, I found out that they were not willing to honor the true price #.
I was not happy to say the least. However, while I was waiting for the estimate on my car, I got into a Demo model Equus. I was blown away! IMO this car is only half a step short of the 7 series BMW and SClass....and those cars similarly optioned would be in excess of $40K more.
I decided to also trade in my E350. I got them to agree to $26.5 on the E350 (she has been in an accident w/ diminished her value) and got $49K for the AMG. Not great, but acceptable. It all came down to what they could do on the Equus.
The Horse was a signature model (I have no need or desire for the Ultimate).
It was in a color I really wanted, Pearl white w/ cashmere interior. It was a demo model, supposedly driven by the regional CFO w/ 1800 miles.
After some back and forth the agreed to sell her for $54K. The rest of the buying process was a pleasure. They even let me cash out some money (15K...need it for BMW repairs
) at 2.9%.
I have heard others say they did even better, but I am pretty happy. Did I do OK?
The car truly is a first class luxury car.
