  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
What's the goal or intent of the TB spacer? Being the 5.0 is direct injected you aren't getting the scavenging improvements that help port injection systems. Our 5.0's also aren't hybrid injection systems like some other 5.0's (Lexus/Ford) that have both direct and port injection rails.

Increase volume in the intake is the main goal theres plenty of info out there that it widens the torque and power curve and increase slightly cruising mpg

The 5.0 intake deff has room on the table for porting which i tend to do paired with a tb spacer will give us something

Do you have evidence of one done and figures on what changed? Or is this just your theory based on whatever?

I am not your average owner im a certified tech, build plenty of cars, engines, transmission ect....own 72 dart, 70 roadrunner, srt4 in the works hoping for 800 plus ( built engine to 1200, liberty gears doggbox transmission, custom turbo manifold and turbo, jmf custom intake manifold, 80mm tb, 2200cc injectors, ect wll the work$$) A spacer by its self is not a major increase but about 5 to 10 hp and torque is seen but paired with other mods it helps

OK, so based on best guess from other experience. May work well but I'm the kind of guy that wants to see it work before I take apart an engine under warranty and make a modification.
Good luck with your project.

This mod will probably be an hour tops job if ur a beginner and shouldnt void your warranty just take it off when u go in

But understandable..then again most people doing mods know this exhaust intake suspension ect up to the owner

Would need to see actual numbers on a spacer before I'd buy one for that very reason- you're used to doing performance port injection systems, whereas this is a direct injection engine. The runner pressure cycles on an intake stroke don't affect fuel/air density like port injection systems where you can stuff a tiny bit more fuel mixture into the cylinder by having more air mass behind the throttle body.

And here's problem #2: You can't easily prove a 5-10HP increase. That's well within the margin of error for any Dynojet or Mustang dynamometer on any measurement above 300WHP. The 5.0 is rated for 420 at the crank, so adding 10HP (at best) there is like trying to measure a 8HP difference at the wheels. The only measurable gains the DH 5.0 has ever made were with full catback exhaust systems, which averaged 25-35HP.

Understandable 100 percent and it all depends hell it might only be 2 hp but its more of to go on with supporting mods ported tb, ported intake, full exhaust im trying to see whos interested in the 5.0 mods with the spacer if all goes well ill dig into other group buys of other parts

Yeah... 420hp is enough for my purposes.
I like to squeeze every hp I can from an engine, but you are correct. The stock 5.0 engine has more than enough power without any additional tweaks.

However, the TAU engine is not an older American made carburetor or port injection engine so we can not just assume that a throttle body spacer will work based on work done on those engines. Every engine design will respond differently to changes; some will show improvements and others will not.

Usually a mod must improve upon an area of the engine where the stock part is not optimized for any gains in engine power to be created or more accurately unleashed over the stock setup.

Throttle spacers may work in the TAU engine, but it will need extensive testing to determine the exact size or depth to create a notifiable gain in performance if at all. I would rather have a tuner shop create a performance designed intake manifold for our cars with optimized intake runners for high end horspower since the TAU engine has a lot of torque in the stock design as is which break tire traction from a standstill.
