If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I have a brand new gv60 performance and I've noticed the brakes make a high pitch squeak when I am backing out or braking at low speeds. Anyone else experience this? I highly doubt the brakes are worn out since the car is new and I see in the manual that allegedly it's normal for the high performance brakes but I was wondering if maybe there's a way to lower the noise?

Is there an aftermarket mod to possibly improve how much the electronically controlled dampeners can soften or stiffen the suspension? I heard from the gv60 reviewer that if the suspension was replaced from the car it could have better handling performance taking corners.
minute 56 - 56:10 he explains that aftermarket suspension and more tire would improve performance.

Mine squeal but only in reverse, and it seems to be tied to cooler temperatures and when it's damp out.

Agree the suspension is more floaty than I would like. Someone here mentioned they replaced the tires with Michelin summers (I think the PS4's that apparently come on the EV6 GT) and there was a dramatic improvement in road feel, handling, grip, and turn-in. Makes sense.

Do you happen to have a link to a place to buy them for cheap? Did he happen to mention how much range loss he got from switching to those tires?

I regularly get break squeal when backing into my parking spot at the office. I’ve assumed that the regen braking isn’t active in reverse, which is why it squeals.
Someone posted pics of their lowered GV60, and it looked great, but it is a 5000 lb SUV - this one the wrong vehicle to drive if you want nimble lateral handling.

Honestly I don't need super nimble driving, just like a small 10% extra handling it's like ALMOST there for me

UK comes with the Michelin summer tires as standard.

I would much prefer a sedan for a number of reasons, and have my fingers crossed that we‘ll soon see a Genesis version of the Ioniq 6.
I’ve just parked my desire for a nimble vehicle, for the time being.

I need to extra space afforded by this car so that's not an option for me lol. This car is like deceptively spacious for how small and short it is which makes it feel like it handles WAY better than other electric SUVs in it's class imo.

Tire Rack shows the PS4 21's with the foam noise reduction for $430. Not exactly cheap. Then again their price for the all seasons (with foam) that are standard 21's in the U.S is $350. IIRC he mentioned a range loss of 10-20 miles. Note that the PS4's have a 30k treadwear warranty versus 55k on the OEM 21 all seasons.

Of course you are never going to turn any SUV into a sports car, but I have no issue with someone who wants to improve handling a bit. Own a Macan Turbo, and while it has remarkable handling for an SUV, it's hardly the sports car many Porsche dealers would like you to believe it is.

Tires and "floaty suspension" are not related. Floaty suspension could be addressed by replacing suspension components, but tires won't help that at all.

Grippier tires like Michelin PS4s could make the feeling of a floaty suspension WORSE because they'd respond more quickly than the OEM tires, magnifying the softer rebound damping that some road testers have reported...

Understand your point. but I never said they were related. OP mentioned improving the handling, and I just added someone else's comment on a different method of improving the handling.

Actually the grippier tires are for the cornering and for some vibrations I feel when riding. Going to get the tires rebalanced to see if that fixes the vibration but it's mostly for the cornering and for the lack of grip when flooring it.

The suspension is something separate I'm trying to look at to see if I can get an aftermarket one that works with this car.

Think the Y Performance handles far better than the GV60 Performance. The turn in is way more immediate, and there's far less body roll. Both cars eventually understeer heavily when pushed really hard, but it happens much earlier in the GV60. No doubt part of it is the different OEM tires. But I think most of it is achieved in a rather unsophisticated manner simply by making the suspension stiff. And there's a big tradeoff for doing that. The Y's ride is far too harsh and you feel every little imperfection in the road surface.

Something halfway between the two might be a great compromise.

Something like MagneRide would be nice. I tracked my former Mach-E GT Performance at Daytona and loved that suspension... for daily use it sucked because Ford could not tune the other suspension modes to be "not bouncy"

I test drove a new 2023 Y Performance with the new suspension and below 20mph it was smooth like an Ioniq 5 and ID.4. Above that speed it was still stiff feeling. Was not able to drive it hard as I basically went in and out of a giant mall parking lot onto local (but wide) streets.
