  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all!,

New GV60 Owner here and I had a question. Does anyone notice upon a bit of a hard acceleration the front of the seat moves upwards? Also upon braking it moves slightly downwards. Someone please tell me that a bit of play in the seat is normal.

I have had the same issue since I purchased over a year ago. I have had 2 dealerships check it and both said they cannot find anything wrong with the seat. One was able to duplicate the movement, the other could not. I believe it also has to do with the seat position since it does not do it all the time.

Do you have a performance model? If so, could it be that you're experiencing subtle sensations when adaptive suspension kicks in? While I don't believe the seat mechanism itself is involved, it sounds vaguely familiar (perhaps seat pressure does also shift when adaptive suspension engages).

The basic idea of adaptive suspension is that detected or anticipated road-level and acceleration changes will "grip" more and then ease up to produce a tighter ride. Perhaps that translates into something that feels like changes within the seat?

Otherwise, I don't know. I do know my advanced model seats don't move when accelerating or braking. I would also find that unsettling.

My Performance is only a few weeks old. I think I remember a setting that adjusts the seat during certain driving conditions.

Could this be Smart Posture Assist or Smart Support? Page 3-11 in the owner's manual.

My performance model also has what you describe here. It feels like 1-2mm of play in one of the worm gears of the seat. It's definitely not some active suspension or seat feature doing this. It also doesn't happen every time - just once in a while I'll get a little bit of a thunk when I hit the accelerator pedal.

I'm in the UK and just had the tech come out and look at this on mine, as it was doing the same thing; it feels like the seat bolts are loose, so it rocks back and forth on accel and decel.

Nothing obvious but I'm he's reported it back to Genesisi UK, as he can feel the play in it too. Will keep you posted on the oiutcome..

Same experience, doesn't bother me enough to complain about it, yet.

I just saw something similar to what you’re describing in an Ioniq 5 video. I’m not sure how similar the seat mounting is to the GV60 though. For the Ioniq 5, it’s mentioned that there is a TSB in Canada but not the US.

I do have a performance model. I've been going the last couple of days but I simply cant ignore it. It feels like the seat is rocking me back and forth up braking and accelerating . It's really driving me crazy.

I noticed that no matter how much I adjust it, I still feel the rocking. No seat feature present to cause this problem.

Do you all have the uprated seats ? I've had this in other cars and also have it here occasionally. I'm certain it the padding in the seats responding to our body movements under the pressure, which is why if you try physically moving the seat you can find no play. I suspect we've all become too used to modern 'firm' seats which are the norm (and always have been on cheap or sporty cars).

I do not have this issue in my GV60P. However I did have a a similar issue in my prior BMW. They found that it was a mechanical issue with the seat assembly. They changed some of the parts and then it was fine. I don't know if you have this same issue in your vehicle.

I'm currently experiencing this issue in my 2023 GV60 performance. Seat play that is rocking on acceleration and deceleration. I have all the posture stuff in the seat turned off.

Curious if anyone who posted in this thread ever got resolution? Any TSBs out there?
