  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I am done with free oil changes at the dealer and paid oil changes at my dealership has exorbitant prices. I was looking at DIY and understand the oil filter is hard to reach but other than that looks fairly easy enough. Just to make the whole experience mess free, I was looking at oil extraction kits. Since dipstick is in the engine bay and filter can be removed from there, I think I should be able to use that. But looking for actual experiences from folks here.

I’ve done that for years with my current 2019 Genesis G70 3.3 and a handful of other Mercedes. You can get to your oil filter as there is a little access opening for it. Just warm the engine a bit if cold and draw all the oil you can through the dipstick tube. Works like a charm!

I have a new GV70. Just before we drove down to Florida I purchased an oil extraction kit from Vevor. It's air powered - no issue for me as I have my air compressor piped into the garage at home. I'm just not comfy with oil changes every 8k miles. I can to them at 8k intervals starting at 4k and the dealer can do them starting at 8k. Everybody will be happy. I watched a youtube video of changing the filter. Looks like a mild pia the 1st time, probably a whole lot easier after that.
