  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 3.5 year old 2022 GV70 has had trouble with the auto stop function failing (past 6 months) because the battery did not reach the minimum charge level for it to work. Now if it does work, when the car restarts the screen goes black for a few seconds while the engine starts. So I think the 12 volt battery is near its end of life.

Genesis may have cut corners on the alternator output because I think it should charge the battery quicker than it does. I read that running the car at idle for 60 minutes to charge the battery is a solution...that makes no sense to me. Having to put a trickle charger on it makes more sense but I don't think a "luxury car" should require that.

I am probably going to bite the bullet and get a new battery. I understand that trying to find a battery that matches the Genesis OEM battery is impossible due to the positive terminal location and the fact that the battery is vented to the outside of the car because the battery is in the trunk area.

I hope that the Hyundai dealer will have the correct battery. This dealership is only 7 miles away versus the closest Genesis dealer that is 30 miles further.

Any suggestions or guidance will be appreciate. Thanks.

Batteries typically last 3 to 5 years depending on conditions.
As for needing a trickle charger, that depends on how often you drive, conditions, etc. Cars today use a lot more than in the past, often just waiting for your command to remote start or unlock.

Here is info from others
