  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone, I was looking through and couldn't find any threads on reliability so far between the inline-four turbocharged engine or the twin-turbocharged v6. Convinced my mom to get the new GV70 or GV80 and she is a bit of a rough driver so I wasn't sure which would be the best for her and last her the longest I guess.

The problem in answering this questions is that a lot of people post their issues, but never bother to fill in the info near their avitar to say which trim line, AWD or RWD or the engine they have and then don't mention any of this in their posts. I have a 2.5 in my GV80 and I am completely happy with it. The 3.5 if of course faster, but from what I read, it is a gas hog around town. If I was getting a GV70, the 2.5 is certainly enough. I came from a Q5 which is the same size as the GV70 and it had a 2.0 and it was quick enough.
I have not read about any major engine fails in either car. Some have had issues with fuel pumps, but that is about it as far as engine. But of course someone may have had an issue, but it does not seem to be a rule with this car.
