  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Genesis Owners!

Let me start of by saying I do love my new GV80 it has a lot more power then my old vehicle and it drives smooth, and everyone loves the interior and exterior. However I have noticed some issues, maybe just the engine break in period on some of these.

  1. I noticed that the wipes don't get a small bottom middle portion of the windshield with the sprayer.(Bad when I was driving and other tires were kicking up dirty soot snow/water)
  2. I have noticed the headlights (non high beam) have a great wide viewing distance but end abruptly in front and a dead zone on the left in a slight V shape. (bad for highway night driving, when high beams aren't always an option). The angle of the lights seem to be to low.
  3. Electrical bizarreness:
    • Welcome chime is disabled, but sometimes triggers
    • Sound will fade out when listening to music even when a message is not received (driver focus assist disabled)
    • (intermittent / rare) keyless entry does not always trigger, even when right next to vehicle / had an issue with the key not working close by today
    • (intermittent / rare) Keyless lock on door handle does not work even when all doors are shut. No beep/light response with thumb on the door.
    • Heater/forced air cuts out for a few seconds and comes back on (happened while driving, not stopped)
    • Android audio / radio music will cut out upon entering / opening a new app (android auto / radio etc... something CPU intensive)
    • Other little stability things I guess that have escaped my mind currently.
  4. AWD system seems to over compensate when hitting road bumps while driving (slight "jutter", like a loss of confidence and then continues fine), where my other car on the same drive year after year hitting the same old little road bumps(not a pot hole necessarily) felt more "confident", barely noticeable forward momentum wheel control loss.

So I am just curious if any other owners have felt these issues. They are minor in regard but noticeable regardless.

Anyone else having these issues?

Thank you everyone!

Just got my GV80. Noticed the headlight issue - a deadzone on the left side with a dark V shape. It is annoying when driving straight. But, a safety hazard when turning left. I took the GV80 to the dealership. They said it is the normal Genesis pattern - to prevent glare for on-coming traffic. I drove a G80 yesterday - supposedly with the same headlight pattern. The G80 deadzone was minimal in comparison to the GV80.
Interested to see if anyone has a solution.

The forced air is designed to cut back if you trigger the voice command button (so the car can hear you better) and if you trigger the front screen wash (keep the smell of screen wash out). Both of these functions can be disabled if you wish. I find the low beams excellent so far. Only drawback is the high beam seems weak in comparison.

The GV80 lights are probably higher than the G80's and probably would cause more glare to oncoming vehicles.

Could you post some photos? Each owner may have different perception on the light patterns, they may think it is normal and never pay attention, or your may be really tuned wrong. You can also check the light pattern of other GV80 on dealers lot.

Not a single reviewer has noticed light problem. If true, it is serious.

Ill try to get a photo in the next couple days.

An update now that I am 3000+ kms in.
  1. Windshield wiper definitely misses small lower middle area. Took to dealership, they rode it off as a big windshield and works as intended. I have driven trucks and stuff with big windshields, this area is usually not missed. However, this is minor and visibility was effected but more than manageable.
  2. Update of picture soon for headlights.
  3. Electrical bizarreness:
    • Welcome chime has a mind of its own. Likely a software fix.
    • Sound fading out I think is a feature but still trying to figure out why, even with driver distraction free driving disabled.
    • Keyless entry has not done this again, but I do think a software update needs to smooth out the locking unlock process.
    • The forced air makes sense, it cuts back during activities such as engine auto stop start and phone calling etc. A+, just never knew this feature existed.
    • The music does cut out for a split second when switching apps/something CPU intensive. Nothing major I think a software update will fix this.
  4. I think this may be the Pirelli scorpion zero tires / new AWD system mixed. I do think they need a software update for the AWD. Noticed that my Honda handles better on similar road conditions with the same tires.

That said, it handles great for what it is. Its a first year model run and they really hit a home run.

Check out the video in the following link: G80 and GV80 Headlights Genesis - YouTube and pay attention too around the 3 minute and 25 second point where it talks about and explains, "a little black half moon image in the headlight throw pattern." (Not exactly what you've described but does explain about preventing glare for on-coming traffic.)

We just purchased our 3.5T AWD GV80. We love the car, but want to know if anyone else has noticed a loud metal pop after parking the car. It's louder than normal tings you would hear when a car is cooling down. It seems to be coming from the back passenger side of the car. Curious to know if anyone else has noticed this problem. Dealer says they haven't had any other complaints.

I personally have not, however I live in a very cold climate and it likely keeps the metal at a cold enough temperature not to expand and contract to create the pop sound. Does it always happen? Like I know my last car (Honda Civic 2018), did a nice loud pop from time to time cooling down.

I don’t like how the low beams end short. The dead zone doesn’t bother me, but is noticeable too. I can’t see far enough in front with the low beams. I think it’s dangerous.

What is the "Adventure" feature on a GV80 Genesis?

What is the "Convivence" feature on the GV80 Genesis?

I have a brand new 2022 GV80 3.5 and am also experiencing the same loud metallic pop sound after the vehicle is turned off. Getting ready to contact the dealer. Did you ever get the issue resolved and if so, what was the cause?

Are you using the auto hold feature? if so, the car is applying the electronic parking brake automatically when you place it in park.

Our GV80 made a large sound also similar to a spring releasing within a few minutes after turning the car off. It eventually stopped doing it after a couple hundred miles.
