  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone found a LED bulb worthwhile or a nice HID conversion kit?

I was looking at some CREE LED's on Amazon, I'm willing to be the first to try but was looking for more feedback on the pros/cons of LED. It's been a while (2010) since I last tried LED fog-lights and they were horrible back then. The light was bright white and looked good but it didn't focus the beam well onto the road.......thanks :)

Here are a couple different sets I was looking at:

Anything other than another halogen bulb will be a huge downgrade in terms of poor weather visibility and clear weather visibility, including HIDs. In addition, HIDs would result in your car turning into a mobile road hazard. Aftermarket rebased LED bulbs tend to have poor output.

Why do you feel you need to change the bulb type?

I'm fine staying with a conventional bulb but want the brightest one I can find (5000k range) vs. the 4150 of my current bulbs.....without losing light output to the ground. Since replacing my HID's with 5500k OSRAM Xenarc's it makes the H8's look a bit off white by comparison. The D1S upgrades were worth every penny as I'm easily getting another 75'+ of useable light, and on a dark road it makes all the difference.

I cant recall offhand what the stock H8's run for wattage, I'm thinking 55W but could be wrong??

You can buy a premium halogen bulb like silverstar ultra or osram nightbreakers in H8 but there won't be a huge difference I wouldn't imagine.
