  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Met him on the field of battle and dispatched him with authority.

He must have been playing with you. The SRT8 should be a match or even a little faster than the R-Spec.

a coworker... in a slightly tuned Saturn sky had a CTS-V pull up next to him...

He returned the next day bragging about how he beat it.

perhaps in his planet where the laws of physics don't apply he did.

SRT8 wasn't trying.

sorry.

ppp

Who said I outran him?

I was in the center lane and trying to get over to make a left turn up ahead. He was in the left lane and eagerly blocking my way. When I gunned my engine and pulled ahead by a few lengths he dropped his hammer and blew right through the stoplight. After that, I pulled into the left lane and turned left, as intended. He had to turn around way down the road and come back to make the same left turn. "I had my way with him." Got to my destination before him too. Won the "race" and didn't break the speed limit. Brawn doesn't always prevail. I could just as easily have dispatched him with my '68 Rambler American.:D

^ yep

Before I became enamored with the Genny I seriously thought about a Plum Crazy Challenger SRT8. Wifey and I test drove it and I was severely disappointed. Oh, the acceleration was there all right but the cabin was cramped (even worse what passes for a back seat) and the vision both front and back was very limited.

If there is a little performance difference between the two cars it isn't important.

I still love the lines and that Plum Crazy color though. :D

Good one.

On the street and with the nanny ESC not doing its thing... The SRT8 will not beat a 18" shod 5.0 TAU. Because I hear two handily to date. The first one was the older gen with 5 speed. Not even close from 20-1XX.. And he was huffing and puffing full out.

With the 2013 SRT8 Dodge about the same deal.. My TAU 5.0 was 1.5 car length past and pulling away nicely by a non published here speed.

Now my neighbors GC SRT8, 2013... We went off the line from a stop. He got at least 3 car lengths on me in an instant because of the nanny crap on mine and he has gimbal 4WD. But I ran him down and went by him at a non published speed here. He was very impressed. Then I used the light as a drag tree and anticipated the green. So, I was able to hit the gas with the delay factored in. We both launched at the same time. He got a car length this time, and ran him down right away and pulled away even quicker.

Guys, you have to know the weakness and advantages of the Genesis.

And I am slightly convinced that the 18" wheel help with acceleration over your 19"s, and the new 20" on latest SRT8 Dodge and Grand Cherokee.

Oh, and I am running the stock Michelins non gum shoes.

On the road with 8 gears and the right RPM range, the Genny does very well.

As for the Saturn deal... Put the pully on the supercharger, and a CPU tune, it goes to 375+RHP. And the manual is geared well. The CTS-V last gen will not keep up. And the current gen with a auto can get caught up on the digital throttle control while rolling. Especially with the wrong gas.. Not down shifting correctly, bogging, and sluggish enough to make it a race with a well prepared Saturn two seater. The current CTS-V is over 4500lbs street.

The Saturn or Pontiac are nice and light with no hardtop on. Yes, it kinda becomes a rice burner, but they are very fast and a sleeper when prepared well.

Couple things:

Saturn's were never blown, there is no pulley to swap

The turbo model was a 14 sec. car.

Although anything is possible, a 5.0 G is at best, a mid to low 13 sec. car while the SRT8 Chargers consistently run a 13 flat and can break into the 12's with the right driver.

I would like to see video of this because on paper the 2012 SRT is faster. If you go on the 300 forum all the guy's said they have handled the R spec with no problem.

I guess it depends on which forum you are reading from.

who cares what people SAY they beat. My 09 V6 could beat an SRT8 that my grandma was driving. Doesn't mean I'm faster than an SRT8, just faster than my grandma :)

My bad. The factory mod from the dealers for the Red Line Saturn Sky was a mod to add boost and change the CPU programming. Forgot about that. Point still is valid about the results.

As for the Dodge, my experiences stand, regardless if what you say.

It is all about getting around the nanny crap of the Genny. Which and SRT8 does not have to contend with. On the road, my experiences are accurate. So, guess I need to get some video next time.

And who wants to lurk around the SRTX forums, as a Genny owner? Trolling? Who cares what is in their posts?
