  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings all.... not a Genesis owner YET.... but it is at the top of a rather short list of cars I am looking at between Feb and Apr of 2016.

A year and a half ago I bought a CPO 2011 Azera from Loren Hyundai of Glenview (home of the Brat Pack & the rest of the John Hughes movies). While waiting for the paperwork to get done I saw the new 2015 Genesis and had a seat. As soon as I sat in it - I could feel it was targeted at customers who would otherwise be looking at the 5 series. I was quite impressed.... nice step up from the previous Genny.

From that point on - whenever I brought my car in for scheduled maintenance or the couple of issues it had (mostly front suspension & ride quality issues) - instead of sitting in the waiting room I waited in the showroom Genesis. I took one out to drive a few times as well. The more time I spent with it the more it grew on me.

I had joined another Hyundai forum back when I bought the Azera and it did have a section for the Genny - so I learned and researched quite a bit there, plus did all the Youtube reviews and test drives, tech explorations, etc. The more I learned - the more I liked.

Then I came across this forum a few days ago. Turns out a friend of mine from TX is a member and 2012 (I think?) owner and is already on here. I have been spending my time reading and learning. Lots of good info on here for sure.

Among several other threads - I have read the ENTIRE "Dislikes" thread and am halfway through the "likes" thread. Lots of great info in both.

So between now and late next winter I will be soaking up all I can from here to finally determine if I will be pulling the trigger. As I said - right now it is at the top of a short list.... which is (in order:)

2015 CPO Genesis (Signature at least, tech preferred)
2011 740 Ld (diesel) (used, extended warranty)
2011 750 Li (used, extended warranty)
2013+ CPO Passat Diesel OR 2013 CPO 5 series (these are kinda tied - though the 5 is pushing my budget limit as a CPO)
2011 A8L (used, extended warranty)

Which model Genny I get will be determined purely on price point. Sure would be nice to find a good deal on a CPO tech.

With all that said - thanks for all the posts and discussion thusfar... I am still going through what I can to learn more - that way I don't spam you guys with the same old questions time and again. :)

Thanks!

-Shawn

Yep.... that is the forum I am referring to in the previous post. That forum actually led me here as there were a few posts in the Genny areas that referenced threads here. Much larger Genesis community here for sure - and a ton more information. :)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Yeah, that's what I thought.

I'm a member there as well, since 2013 when I bought '13 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T, but I traded in for an Rspec and I don't spend much time on that forum anymore. Even though, my Wife now owns '14 Santa Fe LWB, but there is absolutely no problem with her car. I log in there a few times a month tho ;)

I learned all things Genesis on this forum. Since I seen RSPEC commercial a few years ago I was hooked on the Genesis. We test drove one back in 2012 but couldn't make the deal work for us so we settled on a 2012 Honda for my wife (long time Honda owners). I joined the forum back in 2013 when I heard of a new 2nd generation was in the works. I followed the forum daily learning more about the 1st generation and what was coming out in the 2nd generation. The people on this forum are extremely helpful. This is one of the most active forums I have been a member of and am glad I joined.

We finally pulled the trigger last year on my 2015 5.0 Ultimate. Best decision I have ever made. This car is awesome. Next time you test drive one take out one with HUD. Your going to love this option. While mine was in having the taillight recall done, they gave me a 2015 V6 without the HUD and it was greatly missed. Not the same car in my opinion only because I got use to having it.

:welcome: aboard and looking forward to seeing which car you end up with. Keep those posts coming...
