  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been reading articles on the 4.6. Even though the authors like the car, their comparisons to BMW, Lexus ECT have them remove the Genesis from a sport lux. My experience shows how quick people are to condemn. I recently changed my rubber to a higher speed rated tire with stiffer side walls and low and behold- the ride gives me what they were missing in the comparo-- More steering response, less under steer, more control at higher speeds, shorter stopping distance, and a car that now handles like a German piece of sh*t. I love my car if I wanted German stiffness and a car that requires work to drive I would have mortgaged my house to buy one. I like the better handling and Car and Driver should have noted that the cars compared had different rubber on the road. The Genesis 4.6 is better in every way (as a daily drive)than any car it has been compaied to.

So what "rubber" did you install? IMO, its a little brutal to have to spend $1,000+ on replacing the OEM tires on a new car. If the tires are the problem, Hyundai should have used different ones or at least offered an upgrade.

Owners,
My point was all comparos made note that the Genesis was not a sport lux!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cars it was up against have much different tire size to ours, the 235/50 18'' Dunlap 5000's are no match, they talk about loose high speed feel, under steer, and lack of genuine feel at the wheel. The tire I repacked due to dealer screw up are similar a better series the Dunlap SP Sport Signature same size but rated "W". This unplanned swap made me look at the other "sports" cars mentioned that happen to have 40 or 45 side walls. The signatures have a 1/4" thicker bead over the wheel (side wall stiffness) and I love my drive even more .............But just noting that the comparo authers show reluctance to give Hyundai credit for a truly great car. I will be experimenting soon with summer tires that work well in Florida. I’ll let you know what works best to balance all issues… by the way 140mph in my Genesis with the old 5000’s was fun but not tight.
