Happy new owner

Hello all,

Purchased the 2010 Genesis 4.6 Technology Package Platinum Metallic/Black interior last Wednesday from the local dealership. My decision to purchase the vehicle was based solely on reading the posts by the members and moderators of this site.

I am extremely happy with the purchase and want to thank everyone at this site for their input and feedback.

I have since racked about 250 miles on the car and I will post some photos of the vehicle shortly. My two thoughts since the purchase is
(1) I think I got a lot of car for the money. Money very well stretched!!
(2) I have a reason to believe that Acura, Lexus, and Nissan people will have sleepless nights.

Welcome to the club and you've made a great purchase. I have the 4.6 and it's a treat to drive. I think this car blows any Acura on the market out of the water (based on value and options). Wait until you take it on the road and enjoy a great trip. Drove mine from Chicago to DC, satellite radio and smooth riding on the toll road.

One of the other cars I've considered was the '10 Acura TL SH-AWD w/ tech package and 6MT.
I test drove 2 of them and honestly, I was impressed with the car.
General opinion is that it's an ugly design, but I like the side profile and the rear. I agree with the rest about the front.
Once you get into the interior, though, the car is pretty nice.
Plenty of cabin space, nice cluster(better than our Genny's IMO), superb ELS sound system, and solid handling.
Powertrain-wise, I'd say it's a tie between the TL and our Genesis.
Our V6 might be slightly underpowered but has the 6speed auto while the TL has 5 speed. Also, Acura's V6 felt torque-less(not sure if that's a word) while the Genny's V6 felt it had plenty of power. It could've been the gearing, idk.
The V8 definitely has more punch than the Acura, but I guess that's not a fair comparison.
RWD would be considered more sporty in terms of handling, but Acura's SH-AWD has its own advantage(especially in cold climate) and like I said, the handling is very nice.

While both of them are larger, lux sedans in it own, the characteristics are quite different in certain ways that makes it difficult to really compare the two side by side.
Both are nice cars, IMO.

For me, the Genny was a better buy since I got a great deal on an '09 leftover.
IF the '10 TL 6MT was available at the same price as I paid for the Gen, I could've went with the TL simply because it has a manual transmission.

I have an 04 Acura and it's been been mostly trouble free for 160K miles. I love it, but it's past time to trade her in. Having said that, Honda/Acura doesn't have the greatest track record with their 5 speed automatic transmissions, so to see it in yet another application doesn't give me confidence. Also, there really isn't a good excuse not to have a 6 speed auto. That is the primary reason why I'm not getting this generation's TL.

To the original poster, congrats on your new ride! I'll have decided one way or another in the next day or two.

LOL, same thing happened to me last week.
Night before picking up my Genesis, after cleaning up my old car, I couldn't locate my title.
Had to go to the secretary of state to obtain a "quick title" Cost me $20.

That's what I normally do. Passport, SSN card, spare keys, title, etc.
I was surprised that it was not in there.
I'll make sure to keep the new one in there this time!

I bought my 4.6, tech, platinum about the same time you did. I hope you love your Genesis as much as I do. It is a fantastic car. Nothing else under $60k comes close.
