  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I took my 2010 4.6 to the dealer for routine oil service.
Chevron Supreme Synthetic Blend 5W30 filter with
wash, vacuum and windows inside and out. I thumb printed the inside rear door glass. Gone!!!

total $41.50

and didn't buy the car from them :D

Got you beat... my local dealer did the same service for me... for free!

:)

I also did not buy my car there.

Sounds like both of you got a better deal then me. I just had my 2011 4.6 oil changed with conventional oil for 30.00. I thought that was a descent deal but not so much now.

They are just breaking even on these oil changes, hoping that your warm fuzzy feeling will translate into future business. The cars are already good, if they can get the service part of the equation right, sky's the limit.

Any of you guys have after-market tinted windows? Did the dealer use an ammonia-free glass cleaner made for tinted windows when they washed your car? I really don't want those guys touching my car at all, even if the car wash is free.

They don't touch the interior - but I would think MOST cleaners are ammonia-free. Can't be too sure though!

Most glass cleaners have ammonia. Windex makes a special "auto-glass" version without Ammonia, but I doubt that Hyundai dealers even know about that, or would care. The vast majority of their customers "pre-Genesis" don't put after-market tinting on Hyundai cars.

Windex Original - America's No. 1 Glass Cleaner
Trusted by generations of consumers for its famous streak-free shine, Windex Original is perfect for cleaning glass and more. Thanks to its key ingredient, Ammonia-D, Windex Original works on dirt before you wipe.

I have tint and no issues with the work. A dealer would only use ammonia on tint once. Its a short learning curve.
And many dealers offer before sale tint. So even if they sub out the work this is common knowledge in the detailing world.

Do you think they sub out the free car washes to people in detailing world? Probably high school kids or undocumented workers.

I didn't mean most glass cleaners were ammonia-free... I meant most of the products I find in auto stores for car windows are ammonia-free. At least the stuff that's on the shelves at my local stores, anyway.

OK, I would agree with that. But I am a bit skeptical about the amount of knowledge that dealer car wash grunts have on this subject. I am suspecting that giving free car washes at Hyundai dealers is rather new, only since the advent of the Genesis/Equus and the push by Hyundai to upgrade the dealer experience.

I have read horror stories on this forum about so-called professional detailers ruing the paint finish on a Genesis, so I can imagine what some of grunts at Hyundai would do.
