  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I bought my wife a Genesis on November 29, 2008 with the V8. The motor began to knock with 400 miles on it and we took it to the dealer on January 2 and it has been there since then (February 6, 2009 as of this writing). The Dealer started working with the reps to try and get Gene a new motor from the beginning but the reps wanted to try and fix it even after they found an extensive amount of metal in the motor. We were told that it must be a freak thing and that no other V8 motor has had this problem. We were told on Monday February 2nd that the new parts didn't fix the problem and Hyundai ordered a new motor from Korea. The dealer was told it would take between 6 & 8 weeks to get it in. The dealer started making phone calls and we were told today that the dealer will take delivery of a brand new crate motor (shipped from Korea) next Monday February 9th and that my wife should have her Gene back no later than next Friday the 13th. Just in time for Valentines Day. Hardin Hyundai is a great place to purchase, they worked very quickly to get the new motor in (one week instead of 6 to 8) now that's the workings of a great dealership. Hopefully the heart transplant will be a success. I must say the the dealer has been very good to my wife and got her a Buick Lucern with all the goodies to drive until she got her car back (the Buick is a nice car but no where near as nice as the Genesis).

You have a great attitude and that probably helped make this less of a headache than it might have been. My dealer experiences have also been positive. Hyundai dealers have turned out to not be the ogres "conventional wisdom" led me expect.

bnp's genesis;

Sorry to hear of your experience with your new 4.6. It is good to know that they managed to get you an engine so fast. Maybe someone saw the need to air freight one in on the daily Korean Air flights out of Soul to LAX. Hopefully this will be the first and last problem you have with your new Genny. Lets hope it will get done in time for V-day! Keep us informed.

Well tomorrow is Friday the 13th and we just heard that my wife's Gene will ready for her to pick up around noon. Happy Valentines Day Honey! Who ever said that Friday the 13th is a bad day?
